29 school
children from J&K called on Governor

Hyderabad|India|July'2009: A group of 29 school children belonging
to the Reasi and Ramban area in Jammu and Kashmir who were in the city on
21st June called on Governor of Andhra Pradesh at Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad,
last evening.
Governor ND Tiwari was speaking at a function organized by the Indian Army
under “Operation Sadhbavana” at Raj Bhavan said that this opportunity
would enable them to see the progress taking place in various states of
the country and attitude towards life among the youth. He explained them
that such tours will go a long way in broadening their mental horizon. But
he also cautioned the youth: ‘While taking part in extra-curricular
activities, you should also concentrate on academics to achieve
excellence’.
An educational and motivational tour for children of weaker sections of
society hailing from remote areas of J&K state to the twin cities was
organised by 15 Sector Rashtriya Rifles. The students studying in class VI
to XII and three elders comprising a mix of muslims, hindus, gujjars and
bakarwals are participating in the ten day tour from 14 – 24 July 2009.
Headquarters Andhra Sub Area coordinated arrangements for a visit to all
major places of tourist interest as also important Defence establishments
and educational institutions in twin cities so as to get an exposure to
urbanized culture of the state capital.
The Sadbhavana drive launched in year 2000 focuses on health care,
community development, women empowerment and education. The several
centers created by the army have provided much needed employment and
self-employment to people of that area.
The students, thrilled with their first visit outside their home State,
return home better educated and carrying a message for peace and
development in their State.
