Kids are not taught Oratory Skills as much as
schools teach Writing and Reading. They don't have
enough opportunities to practice public speaking
skills. If children are to express themselves
well, they need a substantial amount of systematic
instruction and practice. This instruction must
start in the early years of School when young
children are imaginative and eager to perform. At
this stage, public speaking experiences can be fun
and meaningful for the child. Carefully structured
experiences will increase children's fluency and
skill and give them an early start in the
communication.
Oratory is quickly becoming a lost art. Yeah,
Awesome, Guys and Gals, Damn it. This is what most
of the youngsters prefer talking. Just short
sentences. They believe in this kind of language.
Slowly and steadily kids are forgetting to talk
long, make long speeches. True elocution, with
diction and delivery, is now hard to find. Those
who possess this skill will rise quickly to the
top. Everyone loves to follow a good communicator:
in business, in politics, and even in daily life.
What can schools do to revive this important
discipline? Unfortunately, there is a dearth of
systematically developed instructional materials
designed for the progressive development of young
children's speaking skills. Now here is an
opportunity to teach good Oratory skills to the
kids.
