Hyderabad|India|February'2009: Dr. K. V. Rao Scientific Society which has been established to preserve basic research and scientific talent is to present 8th Annual Dr. K.V. Rao Research Awards for the year 2009 in the fields of 1. Chemistry and allied sciences, 2. Physics, 3. Biological Sciences and 4. Mathematics here in city in April. And invites appliations forms/entries from young scientists, research scholars and doctorates.

According to Ms. K. Ratna, Joint Secretary of the Society, the eligibility candidates have to be pursuing active research work in any of the Universities/Deemed Universities/Research Organizations situated in the State of Andhra Pradesh and/or should have been registered for Ph.D in any of the Universities/Deemed Universities in the State of Andhra Pradesh. Awards will be given to Young Scientists below the age of 30 years.

The Award in each category comprises of a Trophy and a Cash award of Rs 20,000/- to the Best Young Scientist. Two other candidates selected from the final presentations, in each category, will be given a Trophy and a cash award of Rs 10,000/- .

"The Awards are meant to encourage Young Scientists to inculcate deep interest in research and improve their abilities in the field of their choice. A panel of judges comprising of eminent scientists evaluated the research papers and selected the candidates, informed Dr. K. Ratna, Jt. Secretary of Society.

Until recently the Society presented awards in the field of Chemistry and Allied
Sciences. From last few year they extended to other subjects. There is no entry fee for applying for the awards.
