Hyderabad|India|November'2009: Lifeclinic International, Inc., the
world’s leading manufacturer and distributor of automated blood pressure
monitors and Health Stations launches nationally here in Hyderabad through
its Indian partner Lifeclinic India . Lifeclinic’s products are FDA
approved and meet AAMI (Association of Advanced Medical Instrumentation)
and WHO (World Health Organization) standards.
Lifeclinic’s entry into the national market brings a critical service
which will allow individuals to engage in their own health and wellness.
T. Venkateswar (Raj) Goud, President, Lifeclinic India said, “For more
than 30 years, pharmacies, employers, medical clinics, health clubs and
others have provided our self-testing blood pressure monitors as a
valuable service. Today, our monitors are widely embraced with more than
30,000 of them in pharmacies and more than 5,000 in other locations
throughout the world. They are used more than a million times a day and we
proudly say that - We save at least a life a day!”
The lives of far too many people are being blighted and cut short by
chronic diseases such as Heart Disease, Stroke and Diabetes. In India ,
deaths due to chronic diseases were 3.8 million in 1990 (40.4% of all
deaths) and are expected to reach 7.6 million in 2020 (60.6% of all
deaths). Only 20% of chronic diseases deaths occur in high income
countries while 80% of the chronic disease deaths occur in low and middle
income countries where most of the world’s population lives, informed T.
Venkateswar (Raj) Goud.
“The response had been unimagined with over 100 installations, even before
the formal launch, in companies like Jet Airways, Apollo Pharmacies,
Aditya Birla Group More Pharmacies and the State Bank of Hyderabad; the
product is expected to do well”, declared T. Venkateswar (Raj) Goud. “This
is a futuristic product full of promises. It will help ensure better
health through awareness”, he informed. The cost of the machine varies
from 1.72 lakhs to 12 lakhs. The machine which costs 12 lakhs does 24
tests in just five minutes! The company plans to sell 1100 Health Stations
in the year 2010.
The Lifeclinic Automated Health Stations provide tools for a natural
transition into self-healthcare and chronic disease management. It helps
identify early risk factors and prevent progression. The machines can be
ideally installed in any public place like: Airports, Bus Terminals,
Railway Stations, Super Markets, Shopping Malls, Health Clubs, Corporate
Offices and Large Medical Stores. Railway Stations and Metro Railways can
keep these health stations in waiting rooms, ticketing counters; star
hotels for their guests, corporate houses for the benefit of their
employees.
In addition to our unique, self-testing technology, our new Web-enabled
health stations provide healthcare professionals and employees with
data-tracking and management tools to enhance program effectiveness.
Lifeclinic’s blood pressure monitors, health stations and health
management systems make it easy for individuals to take an active role in
their healthcare while enabling corporate management to reduce healthcare
costs and improve the health and productivity of their employees.
“Worksite health stations provide cost-effective tools to fight the
hypertension and obesity epidemic, which adversely effects employee health
and productivity,” said James Evans, Director of International Business
Development - Lifeclinic International. “Worksite health stations will
increase an employee’s awareness of health risks, and allows the
individual to improve their health through life-style changes which leads
to a more productive employee and ultimately to reduced health related
expenditures for the corporation.”
More than one thousand employers have installed several thousand
Lifeclinic self-testing health stations at worksites as a part of their
Corporate Wellness Program. The Lifeclinic LC500 provides automated
measurements of blood pressure, pulse, weight, body fat, Blood Oxygen and
BMI. Peripheral input ports interface with various personal health
devices, including glucose meters and pedometers. The LC500 is
Internet-ready for secure, HIPAA-compliant, connection to health and
wellness tools.
“Worksite health stations integrate health promotion into the worksite and
its culture, reach employees who normally would not be engaged in health
improvement, and support health and productivity improvement,” said Mr.
Evans. He continues, “Lifeclinic is committed to helping our customers
design and implement programs that can help control their organization’s
healthcare costs. For example, when our health stations identify an
employee who is pre-hypertensive, there is an opportunity for early
intervention and education to promote lifestyle changes, which in turn may
allow the employee to forgo the need for costly medications, visits to the
doctor and missed days of work. Obviously, this also benefits the
employer’s bottom-line. For individuals who our health stations identify
as being hypertensive, the employee’s healthcare provider can be called
upon to immediately address factors such as lack of exercise, unhealthy
diet, obesity and bad lifestyle habits, and may also recommend inexpensive
medication that will prevent the much higher costs of hospitalization and
lost productivity.”
