Hyderabad|India|November'2009: Motor cycle rally of 7th Battalion of Mahar Regiment was flagged in by Major General RC Chadha, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Bison Division at Mehdipatnam cantonment in Hyderabad on 18th Nov.

7th Battalion of Mahar Regiment is celebrating the Golden Jubilee of its raising during December 2009. The battalion has a glorious past of 50 years service to the nation. To mark the Golden Jubilee occasion, a 14 member Motor cycle rally lead by Captain R Bharthi Elango was organised from Hyderabad to Various districts of Maharashtra with a unique mission of highlighting the contribution of brave Mahar Soldiers and felicitating the Veer Naris of the Battalion.

The rally after being flagged off by Brigadier Veerendra Nangia, Commander, Basantar Brigade on 07 Nov’ 2009 covered the distance of 2800 kms in 10 days. The rally passed through Osmanabad, Solapur, Sangli, Kolhapur, Ratnagiri, Pune, Ahmednagar, Aurangabad, Buldana, Akola, Washim, Nanded and Latur districts during its course.

The rally was very well received by the ex-servicemen at all the places. A number of functions were organised, where the felicitation of the War Widows and interaction with ex-servicemen of the unit took place.
