Five-member Advance planning team from the State of Maryland of USA called
on the Chief Minister Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy here at Secretariat. The
Governor of Maryland, Mr Martin O. Mally is scheduled to visit India in
September this year leading a trade mission. As part of his visit, the
Governor would be visiting Andhra Pradesh also.
The team discussed the areas of cooperation in the sectors of investment
in Trade, Education, Tourism and Bio-Technology. It may be stated here
that there are good number of people from Andhra Pradesh settled in the
State of Maryland. The Chief Minister conveyed his happiness over the
proposed visit and informed them that Andhra Pradesh would be welcoming
the Governor and explore the possibilities of having business tie-up
between the two States.
The delegation included Mr.Bob Walkewr, Assistant Secretary, Department of
Business and Economic Development, Dr Rajan Natarajan, Deputy Secretary of
State for Policy and External Affairs, Dr Pradeep Ganguly, Sr. Vice
President, Economic Development Corporation, Prince George’s Country, Mr
Elisha Pulivarti, Executive director, Maryland Business Roundtable and Mr
Jessae Singh, President, Maximum Assisted Living, LLC. Mr. G. Kishan
Reddy, BJP MLA also participated in the meeting.
Sister State Partnership: In another letter addressed to the Chief
Minister, the Secretary of State of Maryland, Mr John Mc. Donaf, desired
to have a Sister State Partnership between Maryland and Andhra Pradesh.
For this, the Chief Minister Sri Kiran Kumar Reddy responded positively
and conveyed the State’s willingness to participate as Sister-State
Partnership.
