Minister K Rosaiah asked the ministers and officials to make the Sammakka
Saralamma Jathra a grand success without any problem for the devotees. One
of the biggest of the Tribal festivals in the country, the Samakka
Saralamma Jathra is celebrated once in two years and this year about 80
lakh people, particularly tribals are expected to participate including
people from the neighbouring Karnataka, Chhatisgarh, Maharashtra, Madhya
Pradesh etc. The festival will be held at Medaram village from 27-1-2010
to 30-1-2010.
The Chief Minister asked the officials to make all necessary arrangements
for the festival and all structures being constructed should be permanent.
He also agreed to the proposal for establishing a Tribal Museum at Medaram
with the help of the Government of India. Mr Rosaiah asked the police to
see that there are no traffic jams and enough facilities should be created
at bathing ghats, inside the temple and for supply of pure drinking water.
He asked the Medical and Health Department and the District Collector to
take steps to prevent outbreak of epidemics. He said special care should
be taken for proper sanitation during and after the Jathara.
There is also a proposal to establish a tribal village at Medaram. The
Chief Minister was informed that there will be a tribal exhibition
organised by the Department of Culture and Tribal Arts and Cultural items
from various districts of Andhra Pradesh will be presented during the
festival including tribal folk arts. There will also be a Media Centre and
the Chief Minister today released a wall poster on the festival during the
meeting. The Sammakka Saralamma Jathara will be celebrated at Medaram
Village, Tadvai Mandal of Warangal District. The Jathara is declared as a
State Festival since 1996. This unique tribal Jathara will be conducted
once in two years and is considered the biggest Tribal Jathara in India
and there will be two gaddelu separately for Goddess Sammakka and another
for Goddess Saralamma.
The Chief Minister was informed that works are in full swing for laying of
metal road form RTC alighting and Depot points, maintenance to ITDA Camp
Office & Guest House at Medaram, maintenance to Ashram School at Medaram,
repair works to vented road dam at Chilakalagutta, improvement to cart
track from Kondaparthy to Medaram, maintenance to Cottage building at
Medaram, repair of road from Temple to Reddygudem – and all these works
will be completed by 10th January 2010. Iimprovements and repair to cart
tracks from Bayyakkapet to Ram Krishnapuram, from Kalwapally to Oorattam,
from Kondai to Ilapur, from Ilapur to Kalwapally, from Kalwapally junction
to Bayyakkapet PWD road, from Kondai to Oorattam, from Shapally to Medaram,
from Singaram to Chelpaka, from Chelpaka to Kondai all to be completed by
8th January 2010, Construction of 40,000 ltrs. capacity OHSR at Padigapur
village to be completed by 20.1.2010, Construction of 40,000 ltrs.,
capacity OHSRs at Oorattam village to be completed by 15.1.2010,
Construction of 40,000 ltrs. capacity OHSR at Kannepally to be completed
by 10.1.2010, providing BT road from Padigapur 'X' road to Bathing ghat
from KM 0/0 to 0/3 and from Padigapur 'X' road to Bathing ghat from 0/30
to 0/70 to be completed by 15.1.2010, refixing and maintenance of water
supply pipeline at Reddygudem side, from R&B bridge to temple side and
from Chilakalagutta side to be completed by 8.1.2010 and silt removal of
infiltration wells (3) nos. and water supply arrangement to police camp
also to be completed soon.Construction of new Sub Centre buildings at
Reddygudem Village in Tadvai Mandal in Warangal district and in Tadvai
Mandal in Warangal District to be completed by 15.1.2010, construction of
compound wall and RCC stair case at Sub Centre building Reddygudem and
Narlapur in Warangal district to be completed by 15.1.2010.
Entire Medaram Jathara area has been divided into (40) sectors, (40) teams
are formed by involving senior district level officers and other Mandal
level officers, proposals submitted to CCLA for deputing 10 Dy. Collectors
at strategic locations, installing wireless network consisting (100)
wireless handsets for effective communication, (20) Zoom camaras and (20)
CCTV Cameras will be installed at all critical locations to watch Jathara
situation from Control room, CCTVs will be arranged at Gaddelu,
Jampannavagu, RTC Bus station, control rooms will be set up at Medaram,
Collectorate-Warangal, Mulug and Eturunagaram, (500) NSS volunteers will
be deployed to assist and guide devotees, helpline centres at all critical
locations and guest houses are ready for allotment to VVIPs.
A 40-bedded hospital with specialists is arranged at Jathara Place, (6)
Medical Camps in the Jathara will be ready with ambulance, Doctors &
Paramedical staff will be arranged at English medium School with 20 beds
will be arranged with specialists at, RTC Bus Stand, Reddygudem Village,
Reddygudem X road. In all 2200 Battery of Taps in 39 different locations
being installed, 140 Flushing of Hand pumps, 31 new Borewells, 13 Single
column OHSRs, Standby 20 Water tankers in case of emergency. 6000
temporary toilets covered in 34 locations. Barricading in temple premises,
Providing pendals, tents, Painting to all structures, Improvements to Sri
Sammakka-Saralamma Devatha Gaddelu, Construction of Arch gate in the
Prakaram of Jathara and at Kannepally Cross road, Extension of ‘Q’ lines,
Nearly 180 Hundies are being placed at Darshan place & different places
and illumination arranged in and around the Jathara place.
2628 buses to Medaram Jathara will be operated against 2218 during 2008,
with 3 temporary Bus Stations at Kazipet Railway Foot Ball Ground,
Hayagrivachary compound Hanmakonda and Old Grain Market adjacent to
Warangal Bus Station. In all 12 temporary Bus Stations will be constructed
at traffic generating points such as Chityal, Jangaon, Station Ghanpur,
Bhupalapally, Mallampally, Mulugu Ghanpur, Athmakur, Jangalapally, Chalvai,
Pasara, Govindaraopet and Tadvai. For clearance of down traffic pilgrims,
there is proposal to construct 29 Booking Booths with ‘Q’ Railings at
Medaram. All the proposed 2628 buses will be operated from Medaram to
different destinations in Khammam, Karimnagar, Adilabad in addition to
Warangal District. Sufficient number of swimmers, fieldmen, fishermen will
be arranged at Jampannavagagu, Gadde, Shivnagar tank and Chilukalgutta to
save the lives of pilgrims in case of any contingency and one Fisheries
development Officer will be deployed at each site.
