M.Tech program in VLSI & Embedded System Design
Hyderabad|India|October'2011: In an era where industry-ready talent
is rarely produced by educational institutes, RV-VLSI Design Center, JSS
Mahavidyapeetha and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) join
hands to offer a first-of-its kind M.Tech program in VLSI & Embedded
System Design, aimed at enhancing the employability of candidates.
The M.Tech program is meant for fresh engineering graduates and working
professionals, planning a career shift from IT services to core jobs in
product companies. Unlike the IT services or BPOs, a career in VLSI &
Embedded System Design companies, mandates thorough understanding of
design concepts, technology exposure and current industry trends. However,
not all these skills are imparted in academics or at work.
“The M.Tech program is centered around the Deep Submicron Technology and
prepares students to meet the design challenges of the semiconductor and
VLSI industry. Professionals with vast experience from the semiconductor
domain will use industry standard Electronic Design Automation (EDA)
software tools to deliver the course”, said Venkatesh Prasad, CEO, RV-VLSI
in a press note issued in Hyderabad city.
The participating institutes have ensured the best of the infrastructure,
including an exclusive powerful data centre catering to industry standard
processing needs and runtimes. The candidates will have access to industry
standard tools, technology specific Process Design Kit, standard cells and
macro cells. Field Program Gate Array (FPGA), Application Specific
Integrated Circuit (ASIC) and full custom design methodologies will be
dealt in great detail.
In the business parlance, the Time To Market (TTM) is critical for the
success of a product. Similarly, how quickly a new employee adapts to the
company’s objectives to become productive is equally important. The M.Tech
enables candidates to think like professionals to overcome design
challenges and align their work culture with that of the company.
Salient Features:
• Technology subjects taught by industry professionals with real world
examples
• 4th semester projects administered in-house by RV-VLSI
• Convenient timing to suite working professionals and students
• Over 400 hours of hands-on learning experience using EDA software used
in industry under expert supervision
Students with degrees in BE/B.Tech, in Computer Sciences, Electronics,
Telecommunications, IT, ISE and Electrical, MSc (CSc), MSc (IT), are
eligible for the M.Tech program. Classes for the first batch commences
from November first week. While the first and fourth semesters will be
conducted at RV-VLSI, Bangalore, the second and third semesters will be at
the JSS Academy of Technical Education, Bangalore. Classes will be held
during the evenings.
Electronic devices are getting miniaturized every day. VLSI and Embedded
Systems design have major role in the evolution of next generation
products. From a mobile phone to a traffic signal, microprocessors have
become omnipresent. VLSI and Embedded Systems Design offer exciting career
growth informed Prof. B. G. Sangameshwar, Principal, Sri Jayachamarajendra
College of Engineering, Mysore.
Rashtreeya Vidyalaya (RV) Group of Educational Institutions, managed by
the Rashtreeya Sikshana Samiti Trust (RSST), has been pioneering
education. “This new partnership will create talent for future
world-beating products. I am sure that candidates, who acquire this M.Tech
will be superior to their contemporaries in all respects,” said Dr. M. K.
Panduranga Setty, President, RSST.
The IGNOU will award the M.Tech degree to students. “This is not a
distance education program, but regular flexi-time course. We realized the
need for such a program in the absence of adequate resources for teaching
and imparting the industry-mandated skillsets. This program will create a
high-end workforce, which will be an asset to any company,” stated Prof.
K. Subramanian, Director ACIIL-IGNOU, New Delhi.
