Comprehensive pediatric health care
facility inaugurated at NICE Hospital for Children

K.ROSAIAH, CHIEF MINISTER OF AP
ENQUIRING ABOUT THE FACILITIES AFTER OPENING
PAEDIATRIC SECTION AT NICE FOUNDATION, HYDERABAD
Hyderabad|India|November'2009: : NICE Institute for the Newborn -
South East Asia’s largest and exclusive neonatal facility launched its
comprehensive health care facility for children up to 18 years of age. The
Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Sri K. Rosaiah inaugurated the pediatric
facility on the special occasion of Children’s Day, 14th November 2009.
Dr. K. Anji Reddy, Chairman - NICE Foundation and Dr. M. Padmanabh Reddy,
Director-NICE Institute were also present on the occasion. Speaking on the
occasion, Sri K. Rosaiah said that Education and Health are main
priorities for the government. The State which had only 11 Government
Medical Colleges earlier had within two years of time opened 6 government
medical colleges. He said that Government is doing all that they can and
promised full support if private organisations come forward for Public
Private Partnership models in healthcare.
Dr. K. Anji Reddy in his address urged the rich to learn the art of
giving. The art of giving is not adequate in the country, things must
improve, Dr. Reddy said. Started as a Public Private Partnership model
almost a year ago, NICE Hospital for Babies has been able to create a
niche for itself in the health care domain. In a short span of time, we
have been able to make our presence felt with out international quality,
evidence based practice guidelines, thus delivering ethical high end,
clinical services for those in need for advanced medical care, with
excellent outcomes, informs Dr. M. Padmanabh Reddy, Director, NICE
Institute.
In order to broaden our horizon to include older infants and children, we
are adding the Pediatric Division which is going to provide the highest
quality pediatric medical and surgical services. 30% of the world’s
children’s deaths happen in our country. Most of these deaths are due to
common
treatable conditions such as pneumonia, acute gastroenteritis, malaria,
tuberculosis, meningitis and the more recent ones like dengue fevers,
coupled with the chronic problem of malnutrition, which is present in more
than 1/3rd of our country’s children, says Dr. M. Padmanabh Reddy.
With the addition of the Pediatric division, the institute now
rechristened ‘NICE Hospital for Children’ is an epitome of technological
excellence. The state of art equipment like High Frequency Oscillators,
Nitric Oxide delivery system, Total Parental Nutrition, Pneumatic Chute,
Laminar Flow system in the intensive care and Operating Theatre areas
greatly enhance the quality of service and clinical outcomes. A full
fledged team of neonatologists and pediatric intensivists, supported by
sub speciality services, cardiologists, neurologists, gastroenterologists,
radiologists, pulmonologists, and pediatric surgeons etc., will deliver
the highest quality care to the sick children in need.
Health care costs in our country are not in the reach of the majority of
the population. Delivering highest quality care with excellent clinical
outcomes, at a cost which is in reach of most of the population, is what
the NICE Hospital for Children is aiming to deliver, said, Dr. Padmanabh
Reddy, Director, NICE Hospital for Children.
This Hospital is going to be a training and research facility, along with
the clinical care. It has the support of around 50 high end pediatricians
and neonatologists and allied specialists across the world, pledging their
time and expertise to the Hospital.
