One Crore people across Andhra Pradesh to take Peace pledge on World Peace Day
 

Hyderabad|India|September'2010: Chief Minister Dr. K. Rosaiah is to administer Peace Pledge on World Peace Day i.e. 21st September here at Ravindra Bharati, Hyderabad. One crore people across the state of Andhra Pradesh will take the Peace pledge simultaneously informed Lion Chigurapati Varaprasad, President - Peace for All and (Past International Director, Lions Clubs International) and Member – Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council. Representatives of nearly 5000 voluntary organisations, MLCs, and Ministers for Primary Education, Secondary Education, Higher Education, Technical Education and Medical Education are to participate in the World Peace Day programme on 21st September.

At 11:00 AM on 21st September 2010, one crore people of Andhra Pradesh including children and youth would participate and take the peace oath on the occasion of World Peace Day. Lion Chigurapati Varaprasad, President - Peace for All said that awareness for peace is more required than ever before and urged everybody to participate in the pledge including homemakers even if they are in the kitchen!

The World Peace Day Programme was launched today at Harihara Kala Bhavan, Secunderabad where about 1500 representatives from various organizations like Lions, Rotary, Walkers, Vasavi and other business and voluntary organizations were administered the Peace Pledge who in turn will administer the same at various locations across the state simultaneously on 21st September.

Sri K.R. Suresh Reddy, Ex-Speaker, A.P. State Assembly; Lion V. Suneetha Lakshma Reddy, Minister, Minor Irrigation, Government of Andhra Pradesh; Sri Sankara Rao, M.L.A.; Lion T. Hareesh Rao, M.L.A.; Smt. Jaya Sudha, M.L.A.; Lion Sidda Raghava Rao, M.L.C. and Lion Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, M.L.C. and others graced the launching of the World Peace Day programme.

FOR WORLD PEACE I PLEDGE THAT I WILL BE PEACEFUL. I WISH ALL TO BE PEACEFUL. I COOPERATE WITH ALL FOR THEIR PEACE. I WILL NOT DISTURB THE PEACE OF OTHERS.


Speaking on the occasion Lion Kosuri Ramesh, Multiple Council Chairperson, Lions Multiple District 324C informed that members from around 1500 voluntary organisations including Lions Clubs, Rotary Clubs, Walkers Clubs, Vasavi Clubs from all over AP will participate in the program. He informed that the Government of Andhra Pradesh has issued a GO requesting all District Collectors to involved Schools, Colleges so that the pledge can be administered at the same time across the state. Next year, we plan to organise this program on a national level, added Lion Chigurapati Varaprasad.

The International Day of Peace, also known as the World Peace Day, occurs annually on September 21. Dedicated to peace, it is observed by many nations, political groups, military groups, and peoples globally. It was established by a United Nations resolution in 1981 to coincide with the opening of the General Assembly.

Babu Rao, District Governor, Dist.324 C6 and Leaders from Rotary Clubs International Rtn. P. Shyam, Past District Governor, Dist.3150 and Rtn. Murthy, District Governor Nominee, Dist.3150; Wr. Dr. Padmanabha Rao, International President and Wr.Dr. M.V. Rao, International Vice President from Walkers Clubs International; Vn. Agir Venkatesh, International Secretary and Vn. G.D.V. Prasada Rao, Past District Governor from Vasavi Clubs International participated in the programme.
