Disease (PCOD), mental dystrophy, spinal problems
and decided to dedicate himself to teaching yoga.
He
studied and practiced Yoga in as many as 26
Northern and Southern Schools right from the age
of 12 years. He is a living store house of
knowledge about many techniques. He taught Yoga to
more than 7500 aspirants through his public
workshops in India, Germany and UK. He delivered
key note addresses at several International and
National Yoga Conferences. He delivered more than
250 talks to the number of corporate companies.
These
series of Free Yoga Camps are being organised with
an aim to spread traditional yoga in its pure and
original form and without any dilution. Mr. Kumar
has been conducted workshops for the past several
years in India and abroad. He gave many guest
lectures in Oxford, Cambridge Universities and
Indian School of Business.
Speaking
further Mr. Kumar highlighted the importance of
Traditional Yoga.
What
is Traditional Yoga?
The Traditional Yoga is inherited from thousands
of years, from generation to generation, from
teacher to disciple, from yogis to yogis was well
preserved in ancient texts of yoga. The yoga
which takes care of all health problems referred
as Hatha Yoga was given a standard curriculum for
the first time around 9th and 10th century by
Swatmarama in the lineage of Nath
Sampradaya through a book called Hatha Yoga
Pradeepika followed by many texts like Hatha
Ratnavali, Siva Samhita, Gheranda Samhita,
Kurantaka Yoga, Kapala Kurantaka Yoga, Yoga
ratnavali, Shiva Yoga Deepika etc. The techniques
taught in these Texts cannot be found in any
single school of contemporary Yogas now a days.
Often the schools which have these techniques are
not even known to many Yoga Practitioners.
Today’s Yoga goes mostly by popularity of
the traditions that are not even one hundred year
old with lot of manipulations done by respective
teachers out of short lived
experiences/realizations at the physical level.
Traditional Yoga is an endeavour to put forth the
knowledge as mentioned in the traditional texts in
their pure form of practice to the benefit of
common practitioner without any dilution.
Yoga
in modern days
Yoga is mainly of three kinds — Yoga meant for
rogis (patients) which is the main stream of yoga
today; yoga meant for bhogis (fitness seekers) for
physical fitness and Yoga meant for yogis which
prepares them for eternal happiness.
The
Objectives of Traditional Yoga|
Traditional Yoga in unaltered form can address all
the requirements of the society whether it was in
the past, in the present or in the future. So,
all those techniques required for leading healthy
and happy life will be taught in these workshops.
It is quite intensive Yoga practice
demanding more effort and determination from the
aspirants so as to take them from the existing
level to a higher level of fitness. This Yoga is
taught as a complete fitness program but not as a
post
relaxation technique in addition to some
other vigorous physical activity, like gym,
jogging, swimming or aerobics.
What
is going to be covered in these workshops?
Asanas
Asana means a state of being in which one can
remain physically and mentally steady, calm, quiet
and comfortable. Sequences of Asanas-- Standing,
Sitting, Prone (lying on belly), Supine (lying on
back) and Inverted postures is very important
while practicing.
Pranayamas
Pranayama is more
than a simple
breathing exercise. There are many
Pranayamas based on Siva sanhita, Garand Sanhita,
Kurantaka Yoga, Kapala Kurantaka Yoga Texts.
Pranayamasa to generate heat, to maintain body
temperature and to cool down the body and mind.
Bandhanas & Mudras
Different types of locking or tightening of
muscles is called Bandhanas. And Mudra means a
gesture or attitude. Many mudras are vanishing now
a days, viz.
Vajroli Mudra, Amaroli Mudra,
Aswini Mudra, Sambhavi Mudra etc. are given
special focus.
Cyclic Breathing (De-stressing) Technique
Cyclic breathing followed by
Yoga Nidra takes the aspirant into a
transcendental state and relieves him from stress
and tension completely. This kind of techniques
are very very essential now a days.
Kundalini
Kundalini is the culmination of Hatha Yoga. Once
all chakras (systems of the body) are purified,
all available energies in the body are channelized
so that energy moves from Muldhara (base of the
spine) to Sahasra (crown of the head). This is
also possible with many visualisation techniques.
Therapeutic Yoga
All problems like hyper tension, diabetes,
arthritis, back problems etc. will be addressed
holistically.
Diet
& Nutrition
Importance of balanced diet, water, oil, salts,
proteins, minerals, vitamins required quantities
for different age groups.
