CM orders further reduction of
power cut to small & medium industries
Hyderabad|India|April'2010: Keeping in view the marginal reduction
in power demand in agriculture sector, the Chief Minister Dr. K. Rosaiah
today directed the Energy Department and Power Utilities to immediately
reduce the power cut for small scale and medium scale industries. This
will help the small and medium scale industries and facilitate the farmers
in proper disposal of harvested paddy.
While reviewing the power supply position, in particular the gap between
demand and supply with Principal Secretary, Energy, Mr. Suthirtha
Bhattacharya and Chairman & Managing Director of APTRANSCO Mr. Ajay Jain,
the CMD of CPDCL Mr. M. T. Krishna Babu, the Chief Minister has emphasised
the need to prevent hardships for the lakhs of industrial labour,
particularly in small & medium scale industries. Very recently, as per the
direction of the Chief Minister, the power utilities have reduced the
power cuts from two to one-and-half day to facilitate the above
industries.
Convinced by the presentation made by the Principal Secretary, Energy Mr.
Suthirtha Bhattacharya on power demand & supply, the Chief Minister has
ordered further reduction of power cut from the present one and half day
to small and medium scale industries. The Principal Secretary, Energy
Department assured the Chief Minister that the directions will be
implemented from today itself.
The officials briefed the Chief Minister about the ever growing demand
every year for the industrial sector also. As far as Hyderabad
Metropolitan city is concerned, the present peak demand of Greater
Hyderabad is about 1,500 MW. As per the preliminary estimates, the Planned
demand of 5,000 MW up to 2019-20 in the HMDA area includes industrial
loads projected by Andhra Pradesh industrial Infrastructure Corporation
for their industrial clusters at hardware Park, Mamidipally and IT Special
Economic Zones (SEZ) at Manikonda and Rayadurg.
After patient hearing, the Chief Minister directed the Energy Department
and A.P. Power Utilities to come out with future demand for power well in
advance even for industrial sector.
The Chief Minister who has also reviewed power supply position for the
domestic sector has reiterated that special efforts should continue to
ensure that there are no interruptions what so ever from 6 pm to 6 am for
domestic category consumers so as to help the students who are still
writing examinations.
