Actor Rana Daggubati Walks Blindfolded to Support Blind School Charity
Hyderabad|India|February'2010: Young actor Rana Daggubati took a
Blind Fold Walk to support a benevolent cause. The ‘LEADER’ actor Rana, Richa Gangopadhyay, 25 blind school children, and 100 other
participants undertook the Blindfold Walk to help raise money for a Blind
School in Andhra Pradesh.
Social Responsible campaigns which provide services to society and
especially for children are close to the star’s heart. The Blind Walk
kicked off today at KBR Park, Jubilee Hills Hyderabad. The organisers
thanked all the citizens who cared to join this Walk in support of this
humane cause.
Up to 80% of blindness is curable or preventable, provided we can mobilize
our resources. “I am very happy to be part of this walk. It’s a great
moment to show you care –especially for the young hearts and the causes
close to your heart. It’s all the sweeter that it’s all for a good cause
and aimed to support hundred’s of young children who face the challenges
of visual perception due to physiological or neurological factors. ” Rana
Daggubati, the young actor said.
“We are delighted and grateful to have Rana Daggubati participate in the
Walk,” said Blind Walk Participant. “This Walk is a significant way to
share concern for society and for service of others.”
According to statistics one out of every three blind people in the world
lives in India - an estimated 15 million blind people live in India. Every
year, 3 million people develop cataracts in their eyes. There are 2
million blind children in India. Only 5% of them receive any education.
