Children of Rasoolpura Paint Environmental
Mural With Support of U.S. Consulate General and
Bhumi

Hyderabad|India|April'2010: In celebration of the 40th
anniversary of Earth Day, the U.S. Consulate General Hyderabad and
locally-based NGO Bhumi put paint and paintbrushes in the hands of
students from the Government High School Rasoolpura to decorate the wall
of their school with environmental themes. The aim of the project was to
create awareness of climate change and environmental issues.
Fifty students from the Government High School painted a wall sketched by
Mr. Chaitanya Kiran on the theme of greening our earth. The students
painted the school corridors and the exterior wall in front of their gate.
Speaking on the occasion U.S. Consulate General Public Affairs Officer
Juliet Wurr said, “As these students have worked together to create a
thing of beauty in their community, so too must the world community work
together to protect our fragile environment and the conserve our precious
resources. These young people are our most valuable resources and it is
important they understand the importance of caring for their environment.
”
Commenting on the program Bhumi President Abdul Mujeeb Khan said, “This is
a great opportunity for students of Rasoolpura Government High School to
paint their dreams for a greener earth. The commitment to manifest these
dreams will reverberate across the community and city at large,
sensitizing people to take responsible actions to protect and conserve our
ecologies.”
