Rathod entralled music lovers of city at Jagrati-2010
Hyderabad|India|March'2010: The singer Roopkumar Rathod enticed
music lovers of Hyderabad at Jagrati-2010 held at Lalita Kala Thoranam on
Sunday. The spectators were unmoved by the cold breeze and drizzling which
disturbed the performance for shortwhile. The musical evening was
organised by Bhagwan Mahavir Jain Relief Foundation to create awareness
about dialysis.
Navin Mittal, Hyderabad Collector accompnied by his wife inaugurated the
program by lighting the lamp. The three hour program was attended by about
3500 people, including the needy patients who are availing the benefits
from the trust.
The singer sang popular Bollywood numbers like Maula mera maula and soft
numbers from Veer Zara, Border etc. Many requests for their favourite
numbers poured in. The gracefully obliged the requests of the audience and
sang tracks like Ishara and Teri justajoo from his music albums.
I am happy to be in city for a noble cause. I am honoured to do anything
for social cause, he declared. Another reason why i always wanted to come
back to this city back our romance i.e between me and my wife Sunali
blossomed here, he said.
Audience danced to some of his hit numbers.
The musical evening was organised to raise funds to help patients
suffering from Diabetics. Bhagwan Mahavir Jain Relief Foundation Trust
formed by sixteen like-minded Jain individuals has been extending
financial help to needy dialysis patients. Needy patients who need regular
dialysis are being attended to for the past four months. Such patients are
provided coupons, with them patients go to Mahavir Hospital, Mahesh
Hospital, Challa Nursing Home, etc and get dialysis done at a concessional
rate of Rs.300/- only, against the normal rates of around Rs 1200/- to
2000/-. Started in July 2009 with one patient, today they have 137
patients benefitting from the trust. The coupons are issued on last Sunday
of every month. The trust has contributed to an extent of approximately Rs
20 lakhs for over 3500 dialysis so far.
May be in next three months we would like to start our own centre for
dialysis. So that we can reduce the cost of dialysis. If we can achieve
this, we can serve more patients, inform the Trustees. This musical
program is organised to raise funds for this cause, they informed.
