Govt. High School of Rotary Club of Hyd East Jawaharnagar inaugurated

Hyderabad|India|April'2010:The Rotary Club of Hyderabad East
announces the completion of construction of its most ambitious literacy
promotion project till date –a new building for Government High School of
Rotary Club Of Hyderabad East [Formerly called Government High School,
Jawahar Nagar] in association with the Government of Andhra Pradesh under
Rajiv Vidya Mission Sarva Siksha Abhiyan.
This is the second building (ground + 2 floors) for the school and adds 12
large classrooms with total built up area of about 11,000 square feet that
can accommodate an additional 400/500 students. The new structure also
houses 6 toilet (restroom) blocks. Total project cost is put at Rs.
77,00,000/[approx US$ 168,000]. Rotary Club of Hyderabad East contributed
Rs 22lakh and balanced is funded by the Government. The project is
completed in a record period of one year.
Ray Klinginsmith International President of Rotary International for the
year 2010-2011; K.R. Ravindran, Director--Rotary International; C.Suresh,
District Governor of Rotary District 3150; Mr. Navin Mittal, Distrct
Collector of Hyderabad District graced the inaugural function. Bhaskar
Reddy, President, Surendranath Mekala, Chairperson -- School Project of
Rotary Club of Hyderabad East, Mr. Shyam Mudiraj, Local Corporator, Mrs.
Kanakamma, School Headmistress and several distinguished guests fromt he
local community, Rotarians, students, staff of the school also graced the
inaugural.
This project is the result of dedicated efforts of Hyderabad District
Collector and District Presiding Chair of the Rajiv Vidya Mission Mr.
Navin Mittal informed Mr. Bhaskar Reddy. He provided an active liaison
between Government of Andhra Pradesh and Rotary Club of Hyderabad East to
enable this project to be taken up said Mr. Surendranath Mekala. The
project was inaugurated on November 29, 2008 by then Ditstrict Governor of
Rotary Intl Dr. Sarath Babu and MLA Mr. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy.
The school has 12 class rooms, 6 toilets. Repairs to existing block were
done, benches for some classrooms are provided, Reverse Osmosis [RO] plant
worth Rs 3.5 lakh for safe drinking water is also donated on the occasion.
Also five computers, 800 steel plates were also donated.
Rotary International (founded 1905) is the world’s first service club
organization, with more than 12lakh members in 33,000 clubs in more than
200 countries and geographical areas. It was a matter of the great pride
that Rotary International President who is the boss of Roatrians across
200 countries graced the occasion. It is after the gap of 20 years an
Internaitonal Rotary President visited the city informed Mr. Bhaskar
Reddy.
Speaking on the occasion Ray Klinginsmith who came USA for this
inauguration said the project taken up by the Rotary Club of Hyderabad
East is the perfect community service project. And urged everybody to come
forward to help provide better facilities to government school students.
Addressing a press conference immediately after the inagural function
Rotary Club of Hyderabd East President Mr. Bhaskar Reddy said the Rotary
Clubs in city together will be donating 3000 benches worth Rs 54 lakh
ruppes to various government schools in Hyderabad. A mammoth function is
slated to be organised in Lalbahadur Stadium on November 14, 2010, he
informed.
Rotary Club of Hyderabad East was chartered(established) on October 29,
1986. It is focused on Community Service Projects with a focus on
Literacy, Building Vocations, Health, Hunger, Safe Drinking Water and
Polio Eradication. The Rotary Club of Hyderabad East is a part of Rotary
International’s Model Club Pilot Project.
