Second Sainik
School to be set up in AP
Hyderabad|India|July'2011:
After several decades of gap the Defence
Ministry and the Chairman, Board of Governors of
Sainik Schools Society of the Government of India
approved the establishment of Sainik School at
Kalikiri Village and Mandal in Chittoor district.
This Sainik School would be set up in 50 acres of
land which was allotted exclusively for this
purpose and Rs.50 crores will be spent on this.
It may be mentioned here that there is only one
reputed sainik School at Korukonda, Vizianagaram
district established on 18th January 1962 in the
State. It is the Sixth School in India. A team of
Officers from Defence Ministry inspected several
places and selected Kalikiri for establishment of
this second Sainik School in the State and seventh
Sainik School in the Country.
The Sainik School would be established at a
permanent site at Kalikiri.The School will have --
an Academic Block to house two sections each of
classes VI and VII of 35 cadets per section with
associated facilities like lab, library, common
room and toilets etc. Administrative Block to
house Principal/Headmaster/Registrar and a minimum
staff of eight members, Residential Hostels to
accommodate 150 cadets and minimum of four staff
members for effective care and supervision and
suitable residential accommodation to house at
least four staff members and 20 staff members will
be there at the School Campus.
