SinglePoint signs four new customers; development to uncover untapped demand for SMS Advertising in the country

Hyderabad|India|June'2010: Messaging-based mobile advertising is beginning to take off in India as SinglePoint, the premier global mobile messaging advertising network, today announced significant additions to its growing roster of customers, including Netcore, SMScountry (160by2), Ohana Media and Integrid Media.

The Hyderabad-based company, which launched in India only four months ago, is inserting advertisements into SMS messages generated by leading mobile operators, mobile media portals, bulk SMS providers and advertising technology companies.

These new agreements are expected to expand SinglePoint’s messaging inventory by 50 Million. SinglePoint already sends 20 million ad-eligible messages per month, for media companies, broadcasters, agencies and mobile operators.

“We see a tremendous pent-up demand for SMS advertising, from a wide range of mobile players,” said Gowri Shankar, CEO, SinglePoint. “Based on the reaction from the marketplace, it is clear that SMS is a critical channel for advertisers to expand their reach and for bulk SMS providers and other publishers to generate revenues from the growing streams of SMS messages broadcast to their audiences.”

As more consumers become accustomed to receiving news, alerts and interpersonal messages via SMS, publishers are recognizing a substantial revenue opportunity by expanding their advertising inventory by selling advertising space in those messages. Ad-Junction, SinglePoint’s premium marketplace of advertisers and publishers, allows publishers and advertisers to come together and match advertisements with inventory, based on demographics and other targeting factors.

“Advertisers feel the need to control the waste of advertising dollars by reaching out to their target audience at minimal cost. With better creativity and understanding of the medium, mobile advertising and SMS marketing in particular can be the game changer. We are very happy to work with SinglePoint who have brought in a new dimension for advertisers to use the prime opt-inmessaging real estate created by Netcore (MyToday)”, said Abhijit Saxena, CEO, Netcore (MyToday). “As our network of subscribers grows, so too does the opportunity for us to offer inventory to advertisers through SinglePoint, on the world’s most responsive medium” said Satya Kalyan, CEO of 160by2.

“Working with SinglePoint has allowed us to greatly extend reach and target our advertisements to the most desirable audiences,” said Anil Misra, CEO of Integrid Media. “SMS has proven to be a highly effective medium, prompting response rates and engagement beyond what we typically see in digital advertising” said Shameek Chakravarty, Co-Founder & COO of Ohana Media.

The mobile advertising industry is growing at a fast pace and is expected to reach $28bn globally by 2013. India, where SMS is ubiquitous and a primary driver of VAS revenues, is one of the top countries leading this growth with more than 525 million mobile users. SinglePoint sees a tremendous potential in India and to monetize this opportunity and is launching its SingleBrand Mobile Ad Marketplace where publishers and advertisers can create content and purchase SMS inventory to serve advertisements to millions of mobile consumers.
