RBI Governor Dr. D. Subbarao to deliver the UoH Foundation day Lecture

Hyderabad|India|September'2010: Dr. D. Subbarao, the present Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will be delivering the University of Hyderabad (UoH) Foundation Day Lecture on 20 September 2010 titled 'Dilemmas in Central Banking' at the DST Auditorium on the UoH campus at 2:15 pm. Dr. Subbarao will also be presenting the University Achievers' Awards to meritotious students of the University.

Dr. Duvvuri Subbarao is a 1972 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre. Dr. Subbarao was the topper of the All India Civil Service examination for entry into the Indian Administrative Services and the Indian Foreign Services in 1972. He was one of the first IITians to join the civil service. After joining the civil service, Dr. Subbarao did a Masters (MS) in Economics from Ohio State University, United States, and he was a Humphrey Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Dr. Subbarao got his Ph.D in Economics from Andhra University in 1998. Dr. Subbarao is credited for pioneering work on fiscal reforms at state levels. Dr. Subbarao has written extensively on issues in public finance, decentralisation and political economy of reforms and maintains a strong commitment to academics.
