Secretary Nicole Lamb-Hale Celebrates 200 Subway

Nicole Y. Lamb-Hale, Assistant Secretary for
Manufacturing and Services for the International
Trade Administration, who was leading the first
franchising trade mission to India celebrated the
200th Subway Franchise in Hyderabad.
Assistant Secretary Lamb-Hale was leading the
first franchising trade mission to India. The
mission provided 15 participating companies the
opportunity to meet and interact with prospective
Indian partners during stops in Mumbai, Hyderabad,
and New Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion Assistant Secretary
Lamb-Hale said, “Franchising represents a unique
opportunity for U.S. and Indian companies. Many of
the companies participating in this mission are
strong, globally recognized brands and are well
sought-after in many markets,”
“Hyderabad’s strong entrepreneurial talent and
propensity to embrace franchising concepts provide
mutually beneficial and lucrative opportunities
for Indo-U.S. partnerships, particularly in the
areas of food and beverage and services
franchises,” she added.
Speaking on the Subway experience Mr. Sandeep
Shah, Development Agent Andhra Pradesh and Orissa,
Subway Systems India Pvt Ltd, said, “It has been
six years since I have entered into a franchising
partnership and it has been a memorable
experience. I have developed 28 Subway restaurants
(25 in Hyderabad and 3 in Visakhapatnam). There
are 10-12 locations in the pipeline and we hope to
close the year with 38-40 locations.”
The participating companies included some of the
most sought-after food, beverages and services
franchises: Applebee’s, BannaStrow’s Crepes and
Coffee, CKE Restaurants- Carl's Jr., Denny’s,
Focus Brands - Schlotzsky's Deli, Moe's Southwest
