200 people fall sick and 4 die after consuming drinking water in City

Hyderabad|India|May'2009: The Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy expressed shock and grief over the Bholakpur (Musheerabad in city) incident in which about 200 people who consumed the drinking water fell sick and four persons reported died. The Chief Minister spoke to the Minister for Hospital Services, Vanama Venkateswara Rao and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Mukesh Goud to rush to the affected area and also rush to the hospital and let him know what went wrong.

The Chief Minister also asked the local MP Anjan Kumar Yadav also to be present in the Hospital to help provide adequate treatment to the affected people. He has directed the officials concerned to immediately inspect the water quality and make alternate drinking water supply arrangements in the area. The Chief Minister also spoke in detail with the Finance Minster K Rosaiah and directed the officials to see that ex-gratia as per rules is given to the kith and kin of those who died. The Chief Minister directed the Chief Secretary to convene a review meeting immediately on the incident.
