“Target 2009”
Hyderabad|India|February'2009:
It was long felt that frontal organisations like the NSUI
and Youth Congress were generally getting neglected. It is extremely
gratifying to note that Shri Rahul Gandhiji is very keen to rejuvenate
these organisations, which can lay a strong foundation for the Congress
party.
The concept of “Aam Admi Ke Sipahi”, which was launched by Rahulji is
really laudable. Engaging a very large number of youth of the country as
political and social activists is a very lofty goal, which in turn could
well transform the Congress into an instrument of social and economic
change.
A large number of young people have been very keen to join / be actively
involved in NSUI and Youth Congress. Looking back, very often such young
people have been forced, over the years, to evolve themselves, barring a
few exceptions, into slogan shouting brigades. It is generally somebody
“Zindabad” or “Down Down”. At times, it could be burning an adversary’s
effigy or offering dharna. And sometimes their youthful enthusiasm
directed towards jostling their way to out beat their rival groups while
according welcome to party leaders at airports, resulting in a few glass
panes getting shattered and earning society’s ire and wrath.
To realize Rahulji’s vision to transform the Congress into an instrument
of social and economic change, M. Shashidhar Reddy, MLA (Sanathnagar)
thought that he should first make an attempt to properly indoctrinate
these young people to fit into the scheme of things that Rahulji has
envisaged for them. For this purpose a “One Day Training Camp” is being
organised for them on February 22, 2009. A total number of about one
thousand are expected to attend the camp. This type of an initiative is
perhaps being planned for the first time in any assembly constituency in
Andhra Pradesh.
Hon’ble Chief Minister will also release Logo – “Target 2009” at 11-30 am,
during this Youth Training Camp.
