World Class Memorials 0f YSR to come up opp to
I-Max
Hyderabad|India|April'2010: World Class Memorials for former Chief
Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy will come up near the crash site at
Velugodu near Atmakur, Rajiv Knowledge Valley in Kadapa and at the land
opposite to I-Max in Hyderabad. The Chief Minister gave green signal to
all these projects and asked the ministers and officials to speed up the
project. At the same time, he cautioned them that the memorials should be
of world class in consonance with the high thinking and grand vision of
the late Chief Minister Dr. YSR and his towering personality. The Chief
Minister reviewed the issue with ministers and officials at Secretariat.
The State Government has already notified the land in Velugodu to set up
Dr. YSR Smruthi Vanam near Pavurallagutta, the crash site. The Director,
Culture is finalising the bronze statue of Dr. YSR. The Chief Minister
said that the necessary funds for the project will be released. The land
acquisition is completed. Objective of the Memorial is to highlight the
life and projects initiated/emphasised by Dr Rajasekhara Reddy, to
conserve the native flora and fauna and impart environmental education to
the visitors.
All the project components will be completed by September, 2011.
Components are memorial with landscaping, interpretation centre, peaful
and grey jungle fowl breeding centre, nature trail, bio diversity park and
avenue plantation along the road. It is expected that by 2nd September
2010, the first death anniversary of Dr. YSR, works like finalisation of
detailed designs, statue of Dr. YSR with pedestal, water cascade,
illumination & landscape garden, memorial monument, enclosure and avenue
plantation will be completed.
The YSR Memorial at Kadapa involves development of infrastructures like
landscaping, parking, raising of avenues, construction of galleries etc.
The proposal for the memorial has been forwarded to the Chief Conservator
of Forests, Government of India and the site has been inspected and
recommended for approval to Ministry of Environment and Forests,
Government of India.
It is proposed that at Hyderabad, the existing Lake View Park developed by
the HMDA opposite I-Max theatre will be the appropriate location for the
Memorial. The land adjacent to I-Max theatre also will be included for the
memorial. Symbolic display highlighting the welfare programmes taken up by
Dr.YSR as Chief Minister, his famous "padayatra" and a modern sculpture on
Jalayagnam in the middle of the existing water body are being planned. The
Chief Minister was very particular that all the memorials, monuments and
other sculptures should be in tune with the high ideals of the late leader
and should be of international standards.
Ministers Sabitha Indra Reddy, Dharmana Prasada Rao, Anam Ramnarayan
Reddy, P Ramachandra Reddy, D Nagender, Mukesh Goud, Special Chief
Secretary, Forests and Environment, Janaki Kondapi, Principal Secretary,
Youth Services, A.K.Parida, Commissioner, HMDA, B.P.Acharya, Commissioner,
GHMC, Sameer Sharma, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Sivasankara
Reddy and other officials attended the meeting.
