The City Central Library, Ashok nagar, will be provided with Internet facilities and a separate 'Competitive Examination Books Section ' within the next two months at an approximate cost of Rs.20 lakh for the
benefit of the students in the twin cities.
Though it was initially planned to have only a new competitive books section at a cost of Rs.10 lakh, a decision to provide Internet facility was made in an impromptu announcement by the School Education and Public Libraries Minister Kadiam Srihari at the
inauguration of the week long 33rd National Library Week Celebrations.
The Minister also announced that the project report on streamlining the district libraries for providing Internet facilities in all the 23 districts at a cost of Rs.2.43 crore. Based on the report, Internet facilities will be provided in the district libraries by another six months.
