Cultural Complex to come up in City
The proposed cultural complex that has been pending for the last two years will soon become a
reality as the State government has agreed to hand over a three acres land at Sanjeeviah Park to
the Andhra Pradesh state Cultural Council.
Once the government order
gets issued, the cultural council would immediately take up the construction of a modern cultural complex with all
facilities. The complex would include several museum, an open-air theatre,art
gallery, folk and tribal museum, documentation center and others.

When the State government has created a proposal to build a multi-storied
cultural complex in the city. A land at Golconda and Durgam Cheruvu,
Secret Lake were also considered for the Complex . But It finally
settled to the three-acre strip near Sanjeevaiah Park close to railway
tracks.
The estimated
cost of the complex would be Rs 20 crore .The govt is Working on a
scheme to involve NRI's as well as resident Indian's for the construction
of the complex. The Council for the work would seek Rs 1 crore
assistance from the central government and a similar amount from the
State. The remaining Rs 18 crore would be raised from the private sources.
The complex would have four major components. The first would be a museum
depicting to cultural history of the Telugus. The works of eminent
painters, sculptors would find place in the museum. A theatre for
experimental drama would also be constructed as a part of the complex
where amateur artistes would be given a chance to demonstrate their
talents. The other important part of the complex would be a permanent art
gallery. Painters representing all schools, old and new, would be able to
show their work there. The fourth component would be documentation center
containing cultural history on audio and video cassettes and CD's. The
computerized retrieval system would be as good as anywhere in the in the
World.
