City shocked by the earthquakes in Gujarat

Hyderabad today is indeed in a state of shock as news starts pouring in about the tragedy that has struck Gujarat. Hyderabad for that matter has a substantial Gujarati population and they are all a anxious lot as there is no way they could establish contact with their dear ones due to the complete breakdown of the communication lines.

The pictures shown in the satellite channels have sent shock waves across the city as it is the first time that people are witnessing such a catastrophe.

Meanwhile the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday announced a Rs 5 crore assistance to Gujarat government to tide over the worst ever earthquake that rocked the western State.

The State government has appealed to people to donate in cash or kind to victims of Gujarat earthquake. People can donate blankets, medicines and relief material or cash to the commissioner of Relief and Rehabilitation or the District Collector. While the material in the city may sent to the Relief Commissioner Control Room at the Secretariat, those living in the districts should hand over the same to the respective district collectors.
