magazine, the one and only printing industry magazine in Telugu to share
information.
The brain behind the show is a young and dynamic Mr. Venu Bhagavan, who earlier
worked as a designer in mechanical drawings. With more than a decade experience
in the industry and four successful exhibitions behind him, he has become a
resource for the screen and offset printers in Andhra Pradesh. He has
successfully conducted Screen Expo 1997 and 2001, which was a stupendous success
with 65 participants, 19,000 visitors (repeatedly); IT Expo Product in 2003;
Print Today at Bangalore in 2003. It recorded well over rupees two crore of
business. He is the recipient of "Best Youth Award" from Nehru Yuva Kendra. He
was felicitated by Screen Print India for his services rendered to the Screen
Printing Industry in India. He was also felicitated by Mr. Nara Chandrababu
Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for the Personality Development Training
to the TDP Party Cadre.
Printing is defined as a method of obtaining identical number of copies from a
printing surface. Printing is a medium of visual communication. It is the most
widely used medium in the world since many centuries and will be used for many
more centuries to come. Printing is branded as the permanent and cheapest medium
of communication. It is difficult to imagine in a civilized life without
printing as a medium of communication. Not withstanding the electronic, cyber
revolution and digital printing, printing is still the only art preservative of
all arts.
Chinese in 9th Century AD, are believed to have actually invented Printing, but,
since this could not be substantiated by evidence, historically the credit for
the invention of printing goes to Johannes Gutenberg of Germany in 1454. The
evidence of the first Bible consisting of 1300 pages, each page having 42 lines
is still very much available in a museum in London. So, Gutenberg is worshipped
as father of Printing even to this day though his method of printing has become
almost obsolete now. The letter process of printing invented by Gutenberg became
the trend setter for invention of other major printing processes namely Offset,
Gravure, Flexography and Screen Printing. On-demand digital printing is another
method of printing not having any relationship with the other major printing
processes. Each printing process has its own exclusivity with respect to its
characteristics, advantages, disadvantages and suitability for various kinds of
jobs. So the Print Today focuses primarily on the growing needs of an average
printer who started his business humbly with a simple single colour machine, and
wants to transform to the present day needs of the market.
As regards to Andhra Pradesh the boom for the printing industry has already
started. As the number number printer is growing day by day whereas, an average
printer is struggling to survive with the outdated technology. Here, Print Today
given an opportunity to such players. In the words of Mr. Narendra Parachuri,
Managing Director of Pragathi Offset Printers Pvt. Ltd, the highly regarded
Printer in the country, the exhibitions are the current day open universities,
where one can see and learn so many things at one place. "Our team goes to many
exhibitions, be it a small one from Apple at Viceroy or to DRUPA and studies the
various technologies available, choose the most appropriate one for current or
future needs. An exhibition not only gives us the advantage of seeing new
technologies in action, but, also gives us a chance to compare many of the
competing technologies under one roof. This is a tremendous advantage.
Print Today gives an opportunity for the existing printers and new comers to see
the current technolgies without spending a fortune. Some times it would an
eye-opener for the new entrants.
