Hyderabad :India’s first 3- Dimensional
Electro-anatomical Mapping System of Heart-"CARTO" was unveiled here in city at
CARE HOSPITALS, one of the leading healthcare organisations in the state of
Andhra Pradesh. This was launched by The High Commissioner of Republic of
Tanzania H.E. Mrs. Eva L Nzaro on Friday afternoon in a brief function held in
Care Hospitals, Banjara Hills.
Immediately after the inauguration of CARTO, addressing a press conference, Dr.
B. Somaraju, Chairman of Care Hospitals informed that CARTO is used to treat
complex conduction problems in the heart. In most of the hospitals in the
country, these situations of life threatening abnormalities in the heart beats,
medically called arrhythmias, are treated with drugs or invasive ablation. This
high-tech facility helps in precise location of the conduction abnormality,
which facilitates accurate ablation of the affected tissue. The facility set up
at the cost of $ 300,000 will fill a technology gap in this area.
Dr. B. Soma Raju took the High Commissioner around various advanced facilities
in Care Hospitals like Cardiac MRI, Nuclear Medicine and Cellular Medicine.
Tanzania holds the burden of a large HIV affected population. The High
Commissioner had detailed discussions with Hematology and Microbiology experts
to address the problem of community level management of infected people.
Mrs. Eva was on a visit to Care Hospitals to seek a wide range tie-ups with Care
Hospitals in delivery of tertiary healthcare and availability of affordable
medical technology in her country.
