Hyderabad: We all know twincitians like biryani.
They cherish biryani and like to eat biryani as much as possible, as often as
possible. Now it is the time to know how much Biryani one can eat. To know how
much is too much. This is a fun and frolic contest to know how much Hyderabadis
like biryani. "Pride of Hyderabad", a Hyderabadi cuisine speciality restaurant
located at Chapel Road, Nampally embarked on a novel, friendly and unique
contest "Hyderabadi Biryani Eating Contest" for the first time.
And invites entries from general public for participation.
The contest will be held on 20th August. People of all ages, genders and walks
of life can participate. Entry is free. To participate in the contest, all they
need to do is to walk into any of the two ‘Pride of Hyderabad’ restaurants, one
at Chapel Road, (Hotel Anmol International), Opp. Public Garden, Nampally or
other one Pride of Hyderabad at Hotel Anmol Continental, Opp. Secretariat,
Saifabad and fill in the entry form and drop it in a drop box put up for the
purpose. Also write in twenty five words on "I like Hyderabadi biryani
because.................".
Sixty entries will be picked up on the basis of the slogan or
lucky lottery and will be called for the contest which will be held on 20th
August at Pride of Hyderabad, Hotel Anmol International, Chapel Road. It will be
held in three rounds. There will be a panel of judges who will select the
winners based on the consumption (by weight) of the biryani in a stipulated
time. Either mutton or chicken biryani will be served for the contest, based on
the majority preferences mentioned in the entry form.
The first three winners will get attractive prizes,
certificate of participation and of course biryani to carry home. Every
participant will be given home packs of biryani.
The objective of the contest, according to Mr. Wilson Rajan,
Contest Coordinator is to promote Hyderabadi biryani. The punchline is "eat
more biryani, eat healthy and eat genuine Hyderabadi biryani."
According to Mohd. Mukaram, Managing Director of the "Pride
of Hyderabad" restaurant "Hyderabad is a city of Nawabs and Kababs, Biryani and
Sherwani. So our restaurant being Pride of Hyderabad it goes well with our
theme. Hence, we thought of organising this unique event every year".
