importance of India as a market for Oracle
Hyderabad,Sept'05: The
Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy inaugurated Oracle
India's campus at HITEC City, Hyderabad, recently in the presence of John Wookey,
senior vice president, Applications Development, Oracle Corporation; Keith
Budge, senior vice president, Geographies, Oracle Asia Pacific; Krishan Dhawan,
managing director, Oracle India; Murali Subramanian, vice president,

The inauguration heralds the completion of the first phase
of construction of the Hyderabad campus. The campus, construction of which
commenced in December 2003, is being built in three phases on nine acres of
land. It will have five lakh square feet of built up space.
"India is one of the two jewels for Oracle in the
Asia-Pacific region and is a very important market for Oracle both in terms of
business opportunity as well as the talent pool available for development of
products," said Wookey. "The inauguration of the Hyderabad campus signifies the
importance Oracle assigns to India. The campus, which will house the India
Development Center, continues to carry out cutting edge development work across
the entire Oracle product family for the global market."
Driving development
and innovation of global applications
The Hyderabad campus is focused primarily on the research and development of
Oracle applications software solutions. Operating as part of the global
development organisation, the Hyderabad center houses developers who are
responsible for building and expanding the capabilities of Oracle?s business
applications software. This includes leading edge applications used by customers
to manage core business processes and drive performance, such as financials,
human capital management, manufacturing, supply chain, sales and marketing. The
team also develops applications that meet the needs within specific industries
such as financial services, healthcare, higher education and public sector.
State-of-the-art
facilities to enhance development environment
Oracles Hyderabad campus is an eco-friendly, state-of-the-art development
facility, designed by renowned architect C.R. Narayan Rao who has designed
various technology parks in India and abroad with his firm, Emas Construction
Company. The campus features a rainwater harvesting system, a sewage treatment
plant for safeguarding the environment, and a modern fire protection system.
Significant focus has also been placed on energy conservation, hence the
installation of double-glazed glass to reduce heat emission and automated
building management systems such as sensors in conference rooms which enable
cooling levels to be adjusted according to the number of people in the room.
The Hyderabad campus also features multi-level car park, a spacious, modern
cafeteria, fully equipped gymnasium, sports and recreational facilities such as
a cricket net and a basketball court - for employees. Besides, the campus has
100 per cent power and UPS (uninterrupted power supply) standby for trouble-free
round-the-clock performance. Renowned landscaper, Shekhar James has done the
landscaping for the campus.
"Oracle's Hyderabad campus is among the newest development facilities in India,"
said Subramanian, who leads the applications development at India Development
Center. "Our teams contribute to the most innovative development work taking
place within Oracle and the industry. We expect that this new environment will
play a role to energise our teams and boost local development skills and
expertise to further the IT industry here in India and globally."
