The second round of the Gulf Dirt Track Cup for
two-wheelers will be staged in Hyderabad on November 7th and 8th .
Following the tremendous success of the event last
year, Gulf Oil Corporation Ltd. India is an
established and well known brand of lubricant
manufacturing company, has again come forward to
give two-wheeler riders a chance to show-off their
talents in a competitive environment.
Going by the first of three rounds in Jaipur
last month, the event, sponsored by Gulf Oil
Corporation and organized by Sportscraft and
supported by APMSC (Andhra Pradesh Motor Sports
Club) and Kart Kave Hyderabad, promises plenty of
action and excitement at the NTR Stadium ground,
in Domalguda, near Indira Park, Hyderabad.
Pramod Joshua leads the overall standings after
the first round in Jaipur and will be looking for
another good showing to garner points and seal a
place for the fourth and final round – the Clash
of Titans.
In Jaipur, Joshua, riding a TVS RTR 125 FX, won
two races each in Indian Expert classes for Indian
motorcycles upto 260cc and Indian Expert Class for
foreign motorcycles upto 260cc two & four stroke,
finishing just ahead of his TVS Racing team and
city mates K P Arvind and H K Pradeep. So one can
expect a huge fight in Hyderabad, where Pradeep
and Arvind, among others, will be looking for
revenge.
Shamim Khan, Vineeth Kurup, Abhishek Mishra,
Jes David, Murthy, Snehal Chavan, Fabio Chindhy,
Maninder Singh all did well in Jaipur in lower
classes and are again the ones to watch in
Hyderabad, where local talent could give them a
run for their money.
Already 12 local entries have been received and
more are expected in the coming days.
There are two special local classes for Andhra
Pradesh riders, for motorcycles up to 165cc 2
stroke Group C & motorcycles upto 165cc 4 stroke
Group c.
To be eligible to participate in the Clash of
Titans riders must compete in at least two of the
three rounds of the event. A maximum 15 and
minimum six riders will be selected from the three
qualifying rounds, based on their overall showing.
It is pre-conditioned that the rider should
have taken the start and be a finisher in at least
two of the three rounds to qualify for Gulf Cup
Dirt Track Racing - Clash of Titans.
Cumulative points of three rounds will be
considered for eligibility to the final round in
the respective classes.
For each round the prize-money is to the tune of
Rs 85,000 while for the Clash of Titans Rs 400,000
will be given away.
The main event commences on Sunday at 9 am, but
participants have to report on Saturday for
briefing and other formalities.
Standard entry close on October 30, 2009 while
late entry close on November 4.
