Hyderabad to be developed on par with International Cities

Hyderabad|India|January'2010: The Chief Minister K.Rosaiah said the city of Hyderabad will be developed on par with international cities in all respects with state of the art infrastructure facilities as well as citizen services.

Chairing the 2nd Board meeting of HMDA, the Chief Minister reviewed the activities of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority with the Minister for MA&UD, Mr.Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Mayor of GHMC, Mrs. B.Karthik Reddy and members of the Board. He has released the CD comprising of the Draft Revised Master Plan of erstwhile HUDA.

The City of Hyderabad should be transformed into a compact, efficient, healthy and safe city, the Chief Minister said. It should be pedestrian friendly and environmental friendly city and the departments concerned should work in tandem for fulfilling these objectives by involving all the stakeholders, the Chief Minister said. Improvement of transport system both rail and road and easing of traffic, widening of major roads and infrastructure development should be taken up keeping in view the future requirements, the Chief Minister added.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to display the details of the revised Master Plan at all Zonal offices of GHMC and conduct meetings to discuss elaborately with the Mayor, Dy.Mayor and Corporators so as to apprise the citizens about the details of the Master Plan. He directed that objections if any from the citizens should be obtained by the end of February 2010 so as to finalize the same. Meanwhile the base map Master Plan for the extended area under HMDA is also under progress and a draft plan is expected to be ready by March 2010.

Reviewing the 8-lane 158 km Outer Ring Road project, the Chief Minister said that the Phase-1 of the project should be completed by June 2010 and directed the officials to strict to schedules and complete the Phase-IIA by December 2011 and Phase-IIB by July 2012 in all respects.

Regarding the Hussain Sagar Lake & catchment area improvement project, the Chief Minister wanted the project to speeded up and completed by 2012-13 by improving the overall lake environment & biodiversity and promoting eco-tourism. The project is estimated to cost Rs.370 crores out of which the JICA is financing Rs.310 crore and the Government of A.P. share is Rs.60 crore.
