Exhibition of rare
collection of paintings of Fine Arts in City |
Hyderabad, July' 2003: Sri
Venkateshwara College of Fine Arts, a Hyderabad based and the only private
college for Fine Arts in the state is set to organise an EXHIBITION OF PAINTINGS
here in Hyderabad in Kala Bhavan, ICCR Art Gallery at Ravindra Bharati. To be
inaugurated by Ms. Lesley Jacob, Regional Director of ICCR on 17th July at 11.00
AM, the show will be open till 20th July.
Disclosing this to media men addressing a press conference in city Mrs. S. Vani
Devi, Secretary-cum-Correspondent of Surabhi Educational Society, informed that
the college has one of the finest collections of over 300 paintings in the
country. These are the works of over 100 top master artists from all over the
country. College has collected these over a period of 12 years since its
inception. However, due to space constraints, only 24 best works will be on
display, she informed.
On view will be the rare collection of paintings depicting the styles,
impressions, creative and imaginary skills of great artists of India. The
collection ranges from sophisticated portraits to innovative landscape
paintings. The subject matters range from architectural monuments, to daily life
in village to the images of the natural landscape.
The master artists whose works will be showcased in the exhibition include K.
Rajaiah, Kondapalli Seshagiri Rao, Narendra Roy, Khandavalli Sheshagiri Rao, P.
Gowri Shankar, S.M. Peeran, G.Y. Giri, R. Machi Raju, Ajit Dubey, P.R. Raju, T.
Gangadhar, Bairu Raghuram, Chandrahass Y.J, M. Shashikala, Sanjay Ashtaputre,
Stanley Suresh, V.G. Andani, S. Vani Devi, D. Ananthaiah, Late Vidya Bhushan,
Chandra Sekhar M, Anand Dev, Kavita Denskar and Subash Babu. All these artists
are well known and recognised for their outstanding works and have held their
exhibitions in India and abroad. Many of them have presented papers and
published books.
The exhibition will provide an opportunity to the students of Art, Art lovers,
Art critics to have a glimpse of the rare works. In conjunction with the
exhibition, a counselling will be held for the benefit of students who wish to
seek careers in Fine Arts and Architecture Degree and Diploma level in the
state. The exhibition will enable students, upcoming artists to have a better
idea of Art, Architecture, scope of studies and career prospects. A
demonstration on Portrait Painting, Still Life will also be held.
As a matter of pride, Sri Venkateshwara College of Fine Arts is one of the two
colleges for Fine Arts in the state and is the only college under private
management in Andhra Pradesh. It is affiliated to Osmania University and
approved by All India Council of Technical Education. It offers Bachelor Degree
in Fine Arts for Painting, Applied Arts & Photo and Videography. Housed in an
independently owned campus of its kind at Hi-Tech City. Established in the year
1991, it has produced some of the best artists in the country. Their works and
achievements speak volumes about the college. Fine Arts College is part of
Surabhi Educational Society. It is ably guided by Mrs. Surabhi Vani Devi, who
herself is an Artist of excellence. She earlier worked as a guest lecturer at
college of Fine Arts JNTU prior to starting Sri Venkateshwara College of Fine
Arts. She has won many coveted awards and rewards for excellence in Art.
The exhibition is planned as part of its founding mission of teaching,
collecting and exhibiting the great works of its students, most sought after
artists who have held camps in the college.
