AP plans electronic Kiosks all over the state

The Andhra Pradesh government is in the process of setting up electronic kiosks in all mandal towns providing 24 hours services.Services related to electricity, water bills and driving licenses are
already available in some places in Hyderabad under TWINS project.
Similiar features are already available in Vijayawada and Tirupati.
The government would also set up a Portal to receive and distribute information to the people.
In Hyderabad TWINS has been quite active since a long time. Twin Cities Integrated Network System (TWINS) , the one stop shop for all the needs of a common man .The first- of-its-kind project involving 6 departments and 18 services of the Government will facilitate a single window service outlet for the citizens of the state.

Using IT as a tool, TWINS will allow people to pay Electricity Bills, Phone and Water Bills, and obtain Caste certificates at one point.

This is a major step towards achieving Smart Government which otherwise would take days for the citizens, running around from department to department.
