Following the decision of the Department of Culture, Government of India, all the 'AA' and 'A' category items have been computerized. As a part of the project, the Salarjung Museum has released a compact information on 22,000 artefacts. Governor C Rangarajan, who is also the chairman of Salarjung Museum Board, launched the compact disk at the ceremony, at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday. With this, vital information on rare objects has been brought out in CD form by all the four national museums of the country as per the recommendation of the high power  committee set up by the Government of India under the chairmanship of S S Biawas.

The CD will prove to be very useful to the museum personnel as retrival of information will become an easier job. The program has been developed by using Oracle and Developer-2000 software packages. The programme also assists the museum personnel in preparing the list of various materials, location of the objects, inventory and catalogues.

Salarjung museum is scheduled to  prepare a programme exclusively for research scholars and other individuals who are interested in the history and other information about objects on display.
