Charles Correa to give facelift to
Necklace Road
Charles Correa,the world- famous architect, who is the state government's consultant for the Buddhapurnima project along with The AP Tourism Development Corporation has chalked out mega plans for the
beautification of the necklace Road. Multi -cuisine food courts would be established at an estimated cost of Rs 3 crore on either side of the jetty at
Necklace Road within six months. A permanent jetty will also be constructed replacing the present one.
A floating cultural deck with a seating capacity of 100 to stage cultural and musical shows will also be
introduced. Two 2-seater boats and a 45-seater boat have been pressed into service for the public from the
necklace road point. Apart from the Necklace road point, one more boating point at Sanjeevaiah park has been proposed.
Moreover the department of Tourism has decided to introduce 'Laser film show on aqua screen' at the
Necklace road from Jan 1st'2001.The project costing around 10 crore is to be done through a
Pvt company which is teaming up with experts from Australia and Canada. The
project will be one of its kind in India.
