He was a total let down in
the three Tests series that the Indian colts played against England. He
had scores of 15,9 and 13 in the first two Tests and then he was dropped
for the third Test.
But then the dashing Hyderabad lad came out with flying colours in the
One day series against England which helped India win the series 3-0.He
opened the innings instead of his No3 position in the one day series
against England. He began with 34 and got 80 in the next one-dayer and
eventually in the last one dayer he was unbeaten on 177 to pull off a
sensational win for India at Tauton.Having to score 304,India were
reduced to 137 for 6 but Rayudu pulled out a great victory for India.
Then in November The Gymkhana ground, Secunderabad saw the prodigiously
talented Ambati Rayadu hold centrestage. The young man smashed 210 off
232 balls, including fours sixes and 26 fours as Hyderabad were dismissed
for 353 at the end of their four-day .Two days later at the same ground,
17-year-old Ambati Rayudu pressed his claims for an India cap, following
his 210 in the first essay with an unbeaten 159 in Hyderabad's second
innings against Andhra. The 161-ball scorcher contained as many as 17
boundaries and five sixes. With Rayudu in such blazing form, the
Hyderabadis managed to set Andhra a daunting fourth-innings victory
target of 376.
In the cricketing circles Rayudu is the talk of the town and If he
continues his form then its just a matter of time for him to be called
for the National side.
