Hyderabad, March: Ms. Asha Kumar, 43, takes over as Sales Manager of SriLankan Airlines for Andhra Pradesh state. She is the first woman in the state to reach such a top level to have been recruited directly by an airlines.


She brings with her 25 years of rich experience in the industry. She is the overall in-charge for SriLanakn Airlines, which is shortly commencing direct flights to Hyderabad, for their business operations in the state of Andhra Pradesh. She is based at Hyderabad. Prior to joining SriLankan Airlines, Ms. Kumar served Cathay Pacific GSA Spencers Travel for 9 years.


Starting her career in the year 1980, when not many women were found in the Airlines and Travel industry, she has come a long way. She lived in England for a shortwhile and served Thomas Cook there. She is an Executive committee member of SKAL Club International and an Active member of The Hyderabad Airlines Coordination Committee.


In her twenty five years of career, Ms. Kumar has served many organisations in various capacities. She travelled widely across the globe. Received many awards and rewards for her performance. When she served Cathay Pacific GSA Spencers Travel, the team headed by her received The Best Off-line Office in India Award.


A Post Graduate in English Literature from Osmania University, Ms. Kumar, did Certificate of Travel Agency Competence Course at London.
