Hyderabad-born Chandarshekar Reddy, founder and CEO of Sage Inc,is a force to
reckon with in the Digital Display Sector. San jose-based Sage Inc. designers developers and markets high performance display processors used in digital
displays.
Digital displays have substantial advantages over traditional analog displays. Digital displays offer a more compact form factor, generate less heat, consume less power and produce less radiation. All displays require that incoming display signals be processed in order to display images, and there are more than 100 different varieties of display signals in use today. Display manufacturers seek display processing solutions that can function effectively with the large number of existing and emerging analog and digital signals, ensure the compatibility of new displays with the large installed base of personal computers, or PCs, and provide consumers with plug and play capability.
Reddy's latest line of products is the Jaguar family of digital dispaly processors added to the existing Cheetha family of products. With this
innovation, Sage claims to have created a range of digital display processors for the
flat panels monitor(FPM) market. The Jaguar family provides high-quality scaling, high-bandwidth processing required for large panels, advanced video
features, multiple input capabilities and industries first ActiveColour(TM) Management technology. Sages integarted semiconductor solutions are compatible with the existing personal computers(PCs) display monitors and emerging display devices, including
FPMs, flat panel televisions, projectiion devices, digitals cathode ray vacuum tube
displays, Internet appliances and touch screen displays used in retail an industrial settings.
With the acquisition, in June 2000, of Faroudja Labs, the world's premier Video display processor, the Combined company has now amassed all the critical IP, engineering know-how, and technology components necessary to establish a dominating position across the entire converging world of display.
Sage's clients include Fujitsu Ltd., NEC Corporation, Sanyo ,Sony Acer, Compal, Sony, Sanyo, and Tatun.
While in school, Reddy's ambition was to do electrical engineering and start his own business. But while at the
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, he was extremely impressed by a Wisconsin
professor's research in Bio-medical engineering and decided to move into that field for higher studies. Silicon Valley instead of taking any of the other job
offers. He stayed their for 10 years. While developing a notebook controller integrated circuit at Intel in 1989, Reddy was intrigued by the idea of connecting flat
panels to the desktop PCs and workstations o replace big bulky CRT (cathode ray
tubes). In five years, the resolution improved, color improved, size increased from 8 inch to 13 inch screens, manufacturing yields improved and the costs were down driven by the demand.

He quit Intel to found Sage ( Silicon Accelerated Graphics Engine). The company was incorporated in 1994, but operations began
in 1995 with a couple of friends. His principal executive office is located at 2460 North First Street, Suite 100, San Jose, California 95131-1023, and the telephone number at this address is (408) 383-5300.
