"Newsmakers from Hyderabad"

Wins the Hyderabad and Secunderabad LS seats respectively

 Hyderabad:Asaduddin Owaisi made his entry into Lok Sabha from Hyderabad by defeating his nearest rival, BJP’s Subhas Chandra Bose with a margin of 1,00,145 votes.

This is Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen’s seventh straight victory from Hyderabad. Asaduddin Owaisi’s father and MIM supremo Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi who first won the seat from 1984 onwards. Owaisi Senior who suffered a serious cardiac attack over a year ago decided to hand over the mantle of LS seat to his eldest son who is a barrister from Britain.

The party has been able to retain all the four seats Charminar, Yakhutpura, Chandrayangutta and Karw-an in the old city as well as the Hyderabad LS constituency.

Asaduddin Owaisi, who was thrown into the stormy world of politics during the 1994 Assembly elections by Owaisi Senior after his return from Britain won twice from Charminar and has been the floor leader of his party.

The previous winners of Hyderabad Lok Sabha seats were:1956:Mohiuddin Ahmed of Congress,1957:Vinayak Rao of congress,1962:GS Malkote of Congress,1971:G S Mallkote ofTelangana Praja Samiti,1977:K S Narayana of Congress,1980:K S Narayana of Congress,1984:1999: SS Owaisi of MIM

In the Secunderabad Lok Sabha Constituency,Anjan Kumar Yadav of the Congress, who reluctantly entered the fray in what was considered a BJP stronghold, emerged a giant killer defeating Mr.Dattatreya by a margin of 73,215 votes. Mr.Yadav was the last minute choice after the party nominee, D.Nagender, shifted his allegiance to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

Yadav has indeed defeated a stalwart like Dattatreya who who had scared off leaders like P Shiv Shankar, V Hanumantha Rao and P V Rajeshwara Rao.
