Khan Ali Khan
City youth makes it big in singing
Achieves unique distinction of completing 1000 stage performances
Hyderabad, April 2006:
He is a 35 years old youth living
in Old city. He studied Civil Engineering in Bidar, Karnataka. But,
emerged big in singing in city. And recently achieved a unique
distinction of completing 1000 stage performances. Khan Ali Khan is
the most versatile singer singing Ghazals, Qawwali, Punjabi, Bollywood
hit numbers. He sings the famous numbers of Mohammed Rafi, Jagjit
Singh, Mukesh, Kishore Kumar, Mehdi Hassan, Ghulam Ali and many
others. And has been singing for the past 15 years. He knows by-heart
approximately about 10,000 songs. Has given numerous performances so
far at various places in city which include ISB, Ramoji Film City, Dr.
Reddy Labs, Satyam Computers, Country Club, Taj Residency Hotel, Hotel
Green Park and Taramati Baradari and other cities in the state and all
over India. He has been the star attraction at many New Year and
Corporate parties. At times, people hug him, surround him for the
autographs.
Inspired by Mohammed Rafi, I started singing from the
age of 20 years. Mohammed Rafi sang 35,000 songs during his life time
and I sing most of his popular numbers which are frequently played on
any broadcast media. I am his great fan, declares Khan Ali Khan. I
used to do my riyaaz daily for about 3 to 4 hours at Quli Qutub Shah
Tombs, adds Khan Ali Khan.
I gave my first performance with punjabi folk singer
Gurudas Mann ka number "Dil da maamla..." in city. People appreciated
that. And there was lot of demand for the number, wherever I gave
performance. That number earned me lot of recognition. Slowly and
steadily I got recognition as the most acclaimed singer for Punjabi
numbers both folk and filmi numbers in the city. Then offers started
pouring in. I have been singing for the past fifteen years at Country
Club, Begumpet for Baisakhi Mela and Lodi Milan non-stop, Khan
informed.
I enthralled guests in many city hotel including Hotel
Golconda for about 4 years, Taj Residency for 3 years, Country Club
for 15 years, Green Park for 4 years, Taramati Baradari for 3 years,
Ramoji Film City, Falaknuma Palace, Chowmalla Palace, Alankrita etc.,
Khan Ali Khan stated. Some of my corporate clients include Satyam, GE
Capital, ISB, Dr. Reddy Labs, Gati, Indian Airlines etc., added Ali
Khan.
He sang along with Kashmira Shah in Vizag, Sonu Nigam
at Nizam College Grounds, Mr. Vittal Rao and many others. I confine my
programs to corporate events and concerts. As a matter of policy, I
don’t sing in marriage parties. There is no respect for singers in
marriage parties, as it is dominated by many amateur performers and
orchestra groups. I don’t mind, to sing in some Mega Weddings and
Celebrity Weddings, he declared.
Singing to me is a God gift. No one in my family sings.
When I was doing my riyaz at Quli Qutub Shah Tombs, its resound helped
in my practice. I was a very shy boy. But, I overcame that weakness.
Today I give performances almost 25 days a month. Because of this busy
schedule, sometimes I find less time to listen to new songs. If I
don’t add new songs to my list of songs, I will go outdated. Hence, I
make it a point to buy new songs cassettes and sing along with the
cassette player. That is how I practice new songs. I don’t read and
sing. I sing songs without looking at lyrics. I by-heart all my songs.
I never look at a paper, stated Khan.
Khan’s ambition is to earn a good name for himself by
singing melody numbers much to the delight of his shoukeens. My
numbers are liked by many of my audience. I had a great privilege of
performing in front of many politicians who include Mr. Teegala
Krishna Reddy, Renuka Chaudhury, Geeta Reddy. Many Tollywood and
Bollywood film stars enjoyed my songs. Many foreigners, NRI’s
including a famous NRI doctor who performed knee surgery on former
Prime Minister Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee heard me singing. When I meet
such people I and entertain them I get lot of pleasure, he summed up.
