Ms.Nitheen Kaperi
Selected to visit Germany to interact with Nobel Laureates

Hyderabad/India/September'2009: Ms.Nitheen
Kaperi,a student of the fourth year chemistry student of Integrated
Studies at UoH was selected for the Department of Science &
Technology (DST) Award for participating in the 59th meeting of
Nobel Laureates dedicated to Chemistry in Lindau, Germany. More than
600 students from all the world attended this meeting. From India 43
students attended and from Andhra Pradesh two students were part of
this group. Along with Ms. Nitheen, Mr. Purushottam Sharma from IIIT,
Gachibowli was also selected to participate and interact with 23
Nobel Laureates from the field of Chemistry.
The council for Lindau Nobel Laureate meetings organized a
competition among young scientists worldwide and based on the
academic performance, Ms. Nitheen Kaperi was selected. She
interacted with the Nobel Laureates like Prof. Martin Charlfie,
Prof. Grubbs, Prof. Harold Kroto, Prof. Richard Ernst, Prof. Gerald
and this interaction has amplified her interests in critical
research areas of Chemistry. Nitheen also got to meet Chemistry
students from various parts of the world and discussed mutual areas
of interest and research work. The students were also taken on a
visit to various other Universities and Institutions in Germany
including the Max Planck Institute, Bielefield University and Bonn
University.
Hon'ble Union Minister for HRD, Shri. Kapil Sibal was also present
on the Inaugural day and he addressed the students and Nobel
Laureates. India being the partner country there was an India
Evening where Shri. Prithviraj Chauhan, Minister of State, Ministry
of Science & Technology addressed the students. Certificates were
issued to the students from India by DST also.
Ms. Nitheen Kaperi, is academically brilliant and also very active
in Social and Extra curricular activities. She is into diversified
activities such as Trekking, Volley Ball, Basketball etc., and has
done a course in Yoga. She also practices Vipassana and has
membership in TEACH INDIA Program of Times of India. Ms. Nitheen has
rendered service as Volunteer in many International Conferences and
is associated with many social organizations which work for Child
Welfare. |
