City girl is the demigod of Porbandar
She comes from a family of bureaucrats. Her father is an IAS officer while her brother is in the
IFS. She is from Road No:12,Banjara Hills and she is a super cop creating waves in the mafia infected land of
Porbandar. Single handedly she has almost eliminated the mafia dons of
Porbandar.
A 1993 batch IPS officer,Neeraja took over as Porbandar Police Chief in December 1998 and at that time the entire area was full of Don's
that this place was called as the "Chicago of Gujarat".There were around one dozen mafia dons that ruled
Porbandar. Infact the famous movie 'GodMother' was inspired by the Mafia queen of this area ,Santokben Jadeja in which Shabana Azmi played the Godmother character.
Neeraja Gotru on being posted in Porbandar after getting transferred eight times since she began her career ,first studied the criminal history of the 25 main
history- sheeters. She then called them for a cup of tea to meet them. And
when all the dons assembled at her place, she quietly locked them all and began thrashing them one by
one. Many of them were beaten so badly that some of them started confessing
their crimes. This sent a panic message to all the other dons and thus began her clean up operations of
India's most famous mafia area after Mumbai.
Her next target was the top ten gang
leaders out of which five gang leaders were thrashed in public and this act of hers imbibed a lot of confidence of the locals on the police due to which the people for the first time came forward to lodge their
complains against these gang leaders who were troubling them since ages. The
outcome was that she received over 6000 complaints and Godmother Jadeja,who shifted to Rajkot ,is still searching for
cover. Almost all the gangsters have fled the city and the only person in charge of
Porbandar is this IPS girl from Hyderabad.Well done Neeraja.
