AP government announces 50 lakh cash incentive for Saina Nehwal
Hyderabad|India|June'2012: The Chief Minister Mr
N Kiran Kumar Reddy announced a record Rs.50 lakhs incentive, the highest
so far to Indian Ace Badminton Champion Saina Nehwal for her splendid
victory in Swiss Open, Thai Open and Indonesia Open. This is the first
time that an Indian becoming champion in as many championships within a
short time. It is the first of its kind in sports history that such a big
cash incentive is given to any sportsperson in Andhra Pradesh. The Chief
Minister hoped that the ace badminton champion will win the gold medal in
the forthcoming Olympics at London. He said Saina has become pride of the
nation by winning so many championships and said Andhra Pradesh is proud
of her.
It may be stated here that the State Government has allocated Rs.200 crs
for sports and sports stadia are being constructed in every Assembly
Constituency.

super series tournament. In a message
Chief Minister said that Saina Nehwal
brought pride and laurels to our
country and particularly to our State.
Chief Minister also congratulated her
for winning Swiss and Thailand open
tournaments this year.
Saina clinched her third Indonesia Open Super Series title after beating
world number three Xuerui Li in a see-saw summit clash on 17th July.
The fifth-seeded Indian, who had won the Thailand Open last week, defeated
China's Li 13-21 22-20 21-19 in an hour and four minutes to lift her third
title of the year – the first being the Swiss Open.
