City Industrialist is ELCINA's National President

Mr.Vijaya Kumar Gupta,46 a city based industrialist is the newly and unanimously elected National President of Electronic Component Industries Association (ELCINA) for the year 2000-2001. He is the third industrialist from the twin cities to have been elected to the apex body of the electronic component manufacturers in India.

                     Before being elected to the post unopposed, he served in various capacity as A.P. State President from 1996 to 1998 ,Regional Coordinator, Treasurer and Vice President . He also served as the Chairman of Opto Electronic Panel of ELCINA.
                     
                     A Gold Medallist in B.E., Electronics from Indian Institute of Sciences , Bangalore, Mr.Gupta is currently the Managing Director of city based Kwality Electronic Industries and Kwality Photonics Pvt Ltd., the manufacturers of Light Emitting Diodes and LED Displays. He is also an Executive Director of Ocean Park Multitech Ltd. and CEO of state of the art 2D Animation Studio, Toon magic. He is the recipient of "Entrepreneur of the year" award in 1994 by Hyderabad Management Association and "Best Product of A.P" award in 1995 by FAPCCI.
                     
                     Commenting on his election for the coveted post, Mr.Vijay Kumar Gupta said the significant issues in front of him as a President are lowering the cost ,zero duty on CG, zero duty on all inputs based on one time declaration by user or as one time certification by Ministry of Information Technology (MIT) and most importantly Green Channel for imports with complete hands off policy by Excise and Customs department. Under the WTO Information Technology Agreement (ITA), all electronic components being classified as IT products , will be under zero duty by the year 2003. The Government 
should implement immediately the suggestions made by ELCINA and MIT to ensure that Indian component industry remains strong enough to face the global competition.
                    
                     Set up in 1967, ELCINA is the India's oldest and the largest Electronics Association with member companies in government , joint/state and private sectors such as Bharat Electronics, ECIL, BPL, Samtel, JCT, Siemens, Suchitra Teletubes ,PEC, Hyderabad Batteries , HSBC Flextech and Sulakshna Circuits.
                    
                     Mr.Vijaykumar informed that ELCINA ,as a national body promotes manufacturing , investment and trade in electronics with a special focus on components. Besides , encouraging the use of Indian components, the body also ensures active co-operation between electronic components. The association apart from maintaining regular touch with electronics companies , sister associations and relevant bodies in over 38 countries , also provides a host of professional services to the entire electronics community in India and abroad .Headquarters at New Delhi, ELCINA is a well known body in India as well as in major electronics centers in the world.
