"The New Indian badminton sensation from Hyderabad"

Hyderabad|India|Sept '2012: PV Sindhu broke into the top 20 of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) women's singles rankings recently & thereby jumped four places for a career-best 20th after she reached the semi-finals of the China Masters Super Series this month beating London Olympics gold medallist Li Xuerui of China.

17 year old Sindhu is the daughter of former international volleyball player and 1986 Asian Games bronze medalist PV Ramana, has been performing exceedingly well. Sindhu won a bronze medal at the
2009 Sub-Junior Asian Badminton Championships held in Colombo.On 7 July 2012, she won Asia Youth Under-19 Championship beating Nozomi Okuhara of Japan 18-21, 21-17, 22-20.

She started playing badminton at the age of eight. The first national title came her way, when she won the under-10 championship at Kochi and since then winning has become a habit for her.

Sindhu who trains at the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy in Hyderabad is the next best thing in Indian badminton after Saina Nehwal from the city of Hyderabad.
