Vivek Oberoi was born in
his ancestral home in Nampally. His grand father had a medical shop in
Abids. His father Suresh Oberoi is a very familiar figure of Hyderabad
and later they moved to Mumbai when Suresh Oberoi became a very sought
after actor of Bollywood. Vivek has done his post graduation in Acting
from New York University.
Vivek was in the city this
week on a promotional trip going around the main theatres were the movie
was being screened. ReachoutHyderabad.com
had the privilege to talk to him at the Taj Banjara Hotel. After
watching "Company"
one really expected to meet a rough looking actor but to our surprise
Vivek Oberoi was looking very down to earth and was pretty
charming and looked like a very sensitive person. He was hardy looking
like an actor. That said it all. On screen his performance has been
electrifying and his role has been getting him rave reviews from all
over. When Reachout asked him weather he has received any
compliments for his role from the underworld, he smiled and said that
all that he has done was a role of a character. He said that he had
received a call from one of the cops in Mumbai who addressed him as hi 'chandu
bai'. When asked wheather such kind of roles is a boost for people
to get into the underworld ,he clarified that his role in the movie was
a caution for people not to get into the underworld.
Vivek Oberoi's next movie
is with an Hyderabad team. The movie is "Dum"
with Hyderabad based director E Niwas and is paired with Diya Mirza who
is also from the city. The other movies in the pipeline are "Saathiya"
(a remake of Mani Ratnam's 'Sakhi'. The movie is co-produced by
Yash Chopra and Mani Ratnam. Then there is Rajat Mukherjee's "Road"
with Manoj Bajpai and Antara Mali. He is also doing a movie with Vinod
Chopra and another one with Ram Gopal Verma.
