A Tiny-toddler’s tryst with computers
|
|
Hyderabad:
Is he a child or a miniature adult? If you see him playing, he
is just a tiny toddler. While at computer, he is not just an
adult, a whizkid. An amazingly different kid. A boy wonder. He
is too brilliant to be at ease at computer. He is a gifted
child, an early achiever. He is a child different to his age. A
child very senior to his age. He performs at the level of a
highly trained adult in a very demanding field of endeavor.

Master Samudrala Adarsh Rao is
now five years old. He has been using computers since he was three
years old. At an age of learning alphabets, he was learning
computer. He exhibits a distinctive form of giftedness. It seems
as though God has given him an extraordinary head start at birth.
Now he uses Adobe products like Illustrator 8.0, Photoshop 6.0,
Flash 5,Premiere 6.0, Sound Forge 4.5, Macromedia, Director 8.0
and Kinetic 3D Max Studio 3.1 with lot of ease.
He is familiar with Windows 98, Power Point, Internet Explorer. He
can load any software in a jiffy. He sends emails. His own website
www.adarshrao.com was made by him with Flash, Illustrator 8.0
and Photoshop 6.0. He can now insert pictures, type documents with
all formatting. He transfers documents on to the floppy disk. He
scans images, takes printouts of his own creative outputs. He
performs routine maintenance of his computer. He has mastered
Macromedia Flash 5.
According to his computer master Mr. Suresh Kumar,Adarsh is now
planning to learn advance 3D and Maya. He spends 2 hours a day at
his computer, which was gifted to him by his uncle two years ago.
He created his own C.D containing syllabus/textbook of his
class. The CD comprises of My Art Book, Seasons, Flowers, My Song,
Leaders, My Favourite Movie, Houses, My Website etc. He designed
ads published in newspapers and periodicals. He does his homework
on computer. His school Vidya Vinayalaya School, where he is
studying 1st class has assigned him to design a website for the
school.
His tryst with computers started when he was just two and half
years. His uncle VGN Rao, who now lives in US, presented him a
computer on his visit couple of years ago. It was just lying idle,
till one day Master Adarsh fingered computer and enjoyed repeating
the same. His tryst with computers continued without damaging the
system. Looking at his interest, his mother Dr.S.Padma, a lecturer
in Telugu at Vanitha college spoke to Mr. Suresh Kumar who visited
her college for some computer software demonstration, She sought
his help in grooming her son in computer handling. But Mr. Kumar
was apprehensive about teaching computers to the tiny-toddler of
three years as he would not be able to grasp and follow the
lessons. When he first met Master Adarsh, he was stunned. And got
convinced that the boy had prodigious skills.
He began his classes in July 2001. In six months time he completed
8 software's, in just 90 classes held in his house at Malakpet
from 6 to 8pm for two hours a day. A faster pace of learning even
adults wouldn’t have done (need at least one year for adults to
learn). This speed of learning, according to his master Mr. Suresh
Kumar was very uncommon. This was
possible as he grasped easily, learnt quickly, and retained what
he learnt. During this period the boy had showed incredible
intensity in energy, imagination, intellectual powers, sensitivity
which are considered to be very rare in the children of his age.
Master Adarsh does his school homework after his computer class.
Sometimes he sits at his computer till 2am in the morning. All his
software's are trial versions. If he has to buy the full versions,
it costs his parents rupees one lac, which they couldn’t afford.
And now to proceed further with his persuasion, his parents look
for some help from IT companies in terms of providing assistance
in training, free software etc. for the boy.
According to his mother Mrs. Padma, he doesn’t go to bed some
times till he does his work perfectly. Along with his soft
computer skills, Master Rao is a very good at drawing. He does
image morphing combining his drawing, imaginary and computer
skills. A scanned image of Mr. Chandrababu Naidu is made to turn
into Atal Behari Vajpayee, Indira Gandhi to Rajiv Gandhi,
Mahatma Gandhi to Jawaharlal Nehru. He adds special effects. He
sings, records his songs and edits sounds on the system. Reads
daily English newspapers, story books. He is fond of historical
and patriotic books. He has good collection of over two hundred
books.
