Veerina obtained a Master's degree in Electronics from Andhra
University, then came to the United States with dreams of making it big
in this land of opportunities. In the U.S., he pursued a second Master's
degree in Computer Engineering from Purdue University. He then moved to
California, to booming Silicon Valley, with the intent of working for
five years and then plunging into business on his own. Veerina is
founder and chairman of Flowise, which provides high-performance router
acceleration products that are self-configuring. Veerina formerly
managed the development of high performance ATM multi-protocol routers
at SynOptics. He also worked at Amdahl Corporation, leading teams of
engineers on various networking projects. Based in Los Altos Hills,
California, Veerina continued to read, to take classes at Stanford
University and to hone his skills for the dream he never lost sight of,
establishing his own business.
This high achiever then started Ramp Networks (initially named Trancell
Systems) in 1993 with several Indian friends, relatives, and colleagues.
The company was setup with a vision to develop low-cost devices that
speed Internet access for small businesses. The concept was born through
the struggle of their own company to gain easy Internet access. Unable
to connect easily and have their ten employees log on quickly and
simultaneously, Veerina asked one of his engineers to see if he could
design a board, which would make this possible. Thus WebRamp was born.
With the intentions of giving something back to the country, Veerina
started his operations in Hyderabad. And his office was the first to
benefit from the STP program in Hi-Tech City.
