Hyderabad:
He is 28 years old post graduate in
science (M.Sc.) and presently working as an executive at Bharat Dynamics
Limited, has to his credit couple of amazing products which he has
invented .His activities in promoting young inventors has been getting
him rave reviews from all over. One of his major invention
is E-mail Informer, a gadget that can be installed at
various Cyber Cafés, it is useful for all those who do not have a PC at
home and who frequent the cafe for browsing. In 2001 he has won the Best
Invention Award at the All India Industrial Exhibition where he has
competed single handedly with more than 300 key industries from all over
India like TATA's,ARM, Sanghi's etc..,It's also a fact that ever since
the award was instituted in the year 1958 rarely has any individual won
that award.
The E-mail Informer scans
the mails received in the account and informs the user by a 'beep'. Instead
of checking the inbox from time to time hoping to get some mail, the
email informer helps to reduce time and cost of Internet connectivity. The
benefits of E-mail Informer is that there is no charge for notification
of an e-mail receipt, no telephone charges are incurred, no expenditure
for non-receipt of e-mail as the user need nor login if one has not
received an electronic mail. The cost for the gadget is very very
nominal-about $5 for a personal e-mail informer. He intends to cut the
costs further once there is bulk production of the gadget.
Sony Roy's other
inventions are Cheque Authentication System, an 'inkless'
fingerprinting technique wherein one needs to give his fingerprints
along with signature on the cheque for more accurate transactions, ErPaper,
erasable and reusable paper and
Cool-Imager, a vending machine with instant photo delivery.
From childhood he was very much interested in science & technology
and he always wanted to invent something like TV, Telephone,
Electric-Bulb etc., which changed life for better living. In his school
days, he used to make items, which impressed his teachers and boosted
his creativity. For instance in those days he made a Microscope which
could magnify to an extent of viewing bacteria.

At his college, he published two research papers in international
scientific journals, otherwise scientific publications are generally
done at the time of Ph.D. course. One of the paper describes a new and
most efficient method useful for designing of Calculators &
Computers. In recognition to this he was presented a Gold-Medal by
vice-chancellor of Osmania University.
Later some articles on his method got published in Newspapers and was
shown countrywide as documentary titled "Young Scientist" on
Television. This documentary was made by University Grants Commission (UGC),
Govt. of India.
For a year he worked as a Scientist at Defense R&D Organization and
later he joined the present post. Here he was taken into the
organization as a very special case by giving him a chance to prove his
talent. He was assigned two projects one involving opto-electronics and
another software programming, which he completed successfully, when he
didn't had any prior practical experience on these subjects. After
getting into this organization he has been developing software for
defence applications.
He has formed India’s
first non-profit voluntary organization for Inventors called TSR
Inventors Association, by inviting highly motivated Scientist, Inventors
& Technologists from various Defense & Space Labs for working
towards the common goal of doing something good to the society. The main
aim of the association is to Identify Inventors & benefit them.
Other objects of the Association are to share knowledge and experience
with member Inventors so as to appreciate the miracles of man's
Inventiveness.
Any person who would like to understand the complex process of Inventing
and to know how Inventions can solve the problems of this world such as
poverty, environment, health, unemployment, water shortage, pollution,
crime etc., and how the creative people behind these solutions made it
possible are eligible to become the members of this Association and its
benefits.
